Cool

Try using a tape measure or even a ruler ... it's not rocket science!

I've been thinking about this and I just had to reply. As a machinist working for Mack Trucks Power Train Manufacturing Plant I have never used nor would use a tape or a ruler to measure a OD of a round part, I would use calipers or micrometers, but one can accurately measure the ID of said part with a machinist's scale. I know it's not rocket science Newzuke but when one has been in quality assurance for ten years using tapes or rulers to mate parts is not quite the way I'm use to do it. No offense intented.

I used to be in quality assurance (ISO lead auditor) way to many deviations for me. Now that i'm in maintenance I get to use all those ill fitting parts. LOL

Thanks for firmly putting me in my place, I'll consider my ass firmly kicked! I guess my last 31 years of professionally measuring engineering components has been wasted.

I'm just glad that you finally worked out exactly what size your bars are.

Keep riding safe, far and fast, bro.

Glenn, I will not believe that you've been using rulers and tapes to make precision measurments. CMM and LK measuring machines, inside & outside micrometers, dial or digital calipers, etc. I've worked for Mack Trucks Inc for 33 years, the last ten in quality assurance, retired a year ago. No, your 31 years have not been wasted but Glenn come on, I know that you don't use tapes and rulers to measure thousands and millionth of an inch Hehehehe

Newizuke's reply is the second incidence of a forum member replying with smart alecky remarks that I have read today on these forums. I think it is a shame that members find the need to be insulting just for the sake of it. I hope this is not a trend that is going to continue
