Default I need your suggestions

Hi everyone

Living in this crap country is really getting on my nerves. You will not believe how hard it is to find something here. For a start, aftermarket parts are pretty much non existent for anything else but Harleys. I am trying to get a sissy bar for my C50. Suzuki has been utterly unhelpful. I have tried the branch where I bought the bike, and I have e-mailed 10 other branches in my country, I have even e-mailed Suzuki head office- they all simply ignored me. So I realized that my sissy bar is not going to be Suzuki brand.

So I move on to the next brand. Cobra seems to have some nice stuff. Again, the branch in my country does not carry stock (they don’t know when or if they will be getting that specific item anytime soon). Also no reply from Cobra head office as well as other places like MAW. Many / most of the companies, including Oneida, and Amazon will either not accept our credit cards, or they do not ship to my country.

I can get some diesel mechanic around the corner to bend me something out of steel and weld it onto my bike, but I would really like to leave that as a very last resort.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Renier

That sounds frustrating. Good luck.

Haven’t purchased an accessory from a stealer in years (maybe decades). Here’s a few links to accessory purveyors (DK, J&P, JCW, AW...). These are mostly straight retail, but have used `em many times, so I can say thier service is good, and shipping fast – with a straight face. At a minimum you might find it useful to have their paper catalogs just for reference, as well as shopping online...

There are hundreds of specialty suppliers (my MC favorites folder runs well over 2 megs), so shop the net... whatever you’re looking for, someone is building...

Try BikerCom.Com they are in Spain and have good prices and fast shipping. They offer 3 or 4 sissy bars that fit the vl800

Hey, that diesel mechanic dude might have all the answers. I couldn't find a sissy bar that I loved so I made one out of steel and had it chrome plated. It looks a million dollars and is just perfect, topped off with a pad that a local uphostery guy who made it look like a genuine article.

Don't be affraid to try your hand at some real custom work, you never know you might just be great at it.

Renier, if you can't find a way to buy something directly from the internet vendors due to location of your country, I'd be willing to take delivery here and forward it to you. I've got a PayPal account that I use for eBay purchases, so we could transfer funds without any problem (as far as I know). I don't know how long it would take to ship to you from here, but I'd be glad to help if you need it.

Wow thanks Taterdog. You are truly a star. But it looks as if I might have some luck with Denniskirk. They responded and said that they ship to South Africa. I will probably do the order today. But thanks again for that offer.

And thanks to everyone for your help and replies.

Glad to make the offer, Renier, and glad you were able to work things out with Dennis Kirk. That will probably get things to you faster and at less cost. But if you ever need anything, just ask -- we're here to help!

Have a good weekend.
