Default What Part is This?

It seems like after a ride when I wipe my bike down I find something that I don't know what it is. Last night I was wiping down the chrome top of the front V-twin cylinder head and saw a knob. I was on the left side of the bike (2004 Volusia 800) and it is located directly behind the front cylinder head. It is held up by a plastic inverted "U" shaped bracket underneath the side of the gas tank. It looks like you could twist it either clockwise or counterclockwise. I didn't do either fearing it would effect the bike. I hope I was clear enough in my description of this part. I do know enough to know it is not the choke. HA!!

Thanks for any advice.

I think you are talking about the knob you turn to adjust the idle speed.
