Default Long ride on a c50

Anyone out there take a long ride on a c50 ? I`m planning one after the winter and I`m not sure if I should upgrade to the c90. The trip is @750 miles one way. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't try it without a Mustang seat. Other than that I don't see why not.

The C50 is a fine bike for a long trip. A 750 mile day should not be a problem. Some highway pegs and a throttle lock would be nice additions, but other than that the bike is perfectly fine for long trips. I did a 1000 mile day on my girlfriend's Volusia (same bike, different name) and it was WAY more comfortable than my Intruder 800.

1042 miles in 18.5 hours, and several 700-800 mile days. If your bike is set up correctly for you it is not a problem at all.

730 miles in one day, about 15 hours, mostly super slab for first 10 hours. Stock seat, Alaska Leather sheepskin, oem windshield, Cobra highway bars with JC Whitney pegs, Throttle lock and Vista Cruise Universal 1", wore 3/4 helmet with snap on face shield. Butt got sore on 8th day. Invested after trip in Airhawk inflatable pad. Saw them in Yellowstone and VR member directed me to name and site. No long trips planned until next summer now, but C50 ran great. Just heavy enough for hwy work, but I had an additional 70 pounds of gear that helped on the hwy. (Packed in saddlebags and T-bags Super T). Helped to travel with Beemer who was always 5 miles ahead of me. Only real pain was 4 gallon tank. Rather than a 6 gear, I'd love a 5 gallon tank as out West, I was looking for a station at 130 miles with a total range of about 175 max. 200 miles cruising and 225/250 max would have been a great relief. I did 1700 KM in two days on my M50 and it wasn't too bad ! Bum was getting a bit sore on second day but a quick stop and stretch every now and again made things okay. I would definately like a more comfortable seat but the stock seart won't stop me doing any long rides. A mustang seat is availbale for the C50 and I have heard only good things about the Mustang seats and think it would be a wise investment for anyone serious agout long rides. Too bad they don't make one for the M50. And please don't anyone talk to me about the Corbin ! Its $839 plus shipping up here in Canada.

Had throttle lock on my other bike. Didn't like it much. Only good on straight a ways (flat surface) but I love my throttle rocker for $10 well worth the money.

Ha Dave back from Florida ( no offense to florida people but It looks like a terible place to ride. all the roads are straight and if close to town a million lights. Also too HOT)

I went for a few months on my new C50 before changing saddles. I went with a Mustang saddle on my bike and have been thrilled. I used to get numb after 45 minutes or so in the saddle. Now, I'm happy to ride for as long as I can without streaching. Cobra road bars help tremendously.

If you're looking for a good deal on a Mustang, this place is GREAT for it:
eBay Store - GM Cycles: Mustang Seats, Honda Shadow 1100 87-96, Honda Shadow 750 Spirit

Here's the link to the C50 Mustang saddle:
eBay Motors: Suzuki C50 Boulevard Mustang Seat 79283 (item 4611033598 end time Nov-02-06 18:59:41 PST)

The C50 is great for long hauls, in my opinion. I need a sissy bar/luggage rack to add some versatility in what I can carry with me, but so far, my saddle bags are doing the job. Good luck and welcome!

I will go cross country on my 2005 C50T, Chicago to Los Angeles next May or June for 2 weeks, spending most of my time in the Rockies to enjoy the roads and scenery, drop off the bike at a friend's house in LA, then pick it up a few weeks later and ride back to Chicago. Such a long wait for warm weather to do this!

Default Long ride

I've had my c50 for over a year now. Would have liked a 1500, but couldn't afford it at the time. I love it. The center of gravity beneath me, the fuel injection, and fat seat make for a very enjoyable ride. I put cobra pipes and thier auto fuel cell on, along with a K&N fuel filter, and got a lot more power for the buck. Adding a lowering kit, fat hangers and highway pegs makes for a very smooth handling bike. Much easier to corner than with standard height bars. You can control the movement of the bike more with your ass/hips than w/ with the steering.

We ride for about 2 hours before needing a rest due to the puppies. They ride with us and love it. Most comfy bike I've ever ridden. Besides the intruder 1500 which the boyfriend has.

Happy riding.
