Default Co-worker backed into my bike & knocked it over

He was a gentleman about it and came and told me, but jeeez........

Took it to Suzuki & they want $1500 to replace the light bar, front & rear fenders. His insurance will cover it but criminy, that's a lot of money.

Get the estimate, get the insurance check and replace it yourself. You'd probably pocket $1000.

Thankfully he was honest. In this day and age that says something. Unless there are cameras and he was fearful of getting caught.

That only works if you have a clear title. Otherwise the insurance company makes the check out with both you and the shop's name on it, so the loan holder knows the bike was actually fixed.

But yup, parts are expensive. Especially those plastic fenders, which come from the factory pre-painted and cost an arm and a leg.

No actually we don't have any security cameras and the parking lot was pretty much abandoned. Still can't figure out how he could've missed seeing my bike but it's refreshing to see that honor still carries some weight.

That depends on the Insurance co. I have State Farm and a guy backed into mine the same way. It was $1,865.00 and they just wrote me a check minus my deducable. I have a loan on the bike. I pocketed about $1,400.00 But they did the same with my van with a hit and run on it. Just wrote me a check.

If your avatar is any indication, I'd be inclined to just hand over a check as well.

My son backed into my new Bandit in the drive a week after I got it. No real damage, but it was scary. He's a good driver but just doesn't watch sometimes!!! What if that was a person standing there in a parking lot?

I swear with the video game generation out driving real cars; they have this sense deep down that if something bad happens they can just press the 'reset' button and start again!!

you should have kicked him square in the nuts ... and then helped him off the floor and told him "thank you" for being honest about it and telling you.... and explain to him that yes, the kick to the nuts was necessary.

Hey the guy was honest (+). The insurance company is going to pay (+). The bike will be down for a while (-). Still more +'s than -'s. I hate your bike will be in the shop but unless you just need or want the extra money have the shop fix it. that way you know it is right and if it isn't you have someone to go back and kick in the nether regions.
