Default Range on a C50 engine until refilling

Anybody ever run a C50 engine dry just to see how far you can go? I keep nudging mine higher and higher. So far I've got it up to 174 miles before refilling. I then put 3.8 US Gal in the tank which Suzuki says has a 4.1 Gal capacity. Maybe I should just carry a gas can and run it until empty. I'm in California by the way so "your mileage may vary".

I ran mine to 168 and it took about the same amount. But I was up in the White Mountains of NH and I feel that it may have suffered from the hills and such.

Never been brave enough to try. I get 156 miles before the low fuel light comes on.Usually fill up before 160. Interesting question though. I'd kinda' like to know myself.

The most I have gotten out of mine is 193, and on fill up it took 3.9 gallons.

C50's and M50's sold in California have a 4 gallon tank rather than the 4.1 gallon tank. They have a carbon filter (for smog purposes) inside the tank that takes up that .1 gallon.

Here, in the north, the tank is 15.5 liters and the most I have put in is
14.7 liters for 294 km which equals 310 km per tank.

310kms = 192.6 miles

I have K&N aircleaner and a TFI unit with stock pipes riding backroads and secondary highways.

Sounds like you are getting another 20-30miles per tank.

In Calif. the cannister is mounted behind the right side cover.
The rest of us just have the brackets there.

I'm not that courious that I'm willing to run out of gas on the highway to find out. I get around 50 MPG and I have a 4.1 gallon tank. That is all the info I need to know.

Yeah but wouldn't it be nice to know, late one night when you're 25 miles from Hooterville, "Can I make it?". Let's have a brave volunteer strap on a spare can of gas and do a little "road research".

I have a morbid fear of running a fuel injected engine slap dry. Someone let me know how that turns out.

When I run down to 14.7 liters was when I was blowing fuses and my LED read outs including the gas is low were not working.
I did not realize I was that close tro empty.

I always reset trip 1 on refill.

I usually don't push over 150. I know there's some left, but if I aim for 150 fillup then I can make the next gas station if I happen to miss it, or don't wanna wait in line.

My light comes on around 206-230 and I gas up shortly as I know I have 80kms left. I gas up 30 klicks out from home as I pay less, sometimes 15 to 20
cents a liter and the stations are not so busy. I just plan my ride starts around how much I had in the tank when I came home.

My light comes on at 120 miles and I know I have 50 miles of error left.
I do not cut closer by choice so I have a few miles of stretch if I filled to the max level. 14.7 ltrs. with no odemeter was 80 kms sooner than I guessed.
.8 ltrs left = 16 klicks= 10 miles that was stupid, I know better.

Damn Yanks and their miles.....

When the light comes on... does that mean there's 1 Gallon left?

I believe that when the light goes solid, you have roughly one gallon left. Key word, Roughly!

Just aim uphill at the end so you can coast down.

Imperial Gallon, NO, US Gallon, Yes.

If you test this out, remember I am still having a problem with liters.
