Default Updates and Questions

Okay everyone, I've been really busy lately with moving back to school and picking up classes there...plus I'm taking advanced diving classes on weekends back home, trying to organize a budget to pay for my bike, and the list goes on. But I just wanted to say hi again and let you know a couple things about how my riding is coming along (I'm still new) and ask a few questions.

I've put almost 300 miles on the bike so far, and I'm loving every minute of it. I scared the crap out of myself today, though, when I scraped the bottom of my bike leaning too far. I just didn't panic and kept through the turn and made it okay...made my heart jump though. I'm getting more and more comfortable riding on actual streets outside of the neighborhood, but not letting myself get too confident.

I wanted to ask you guys about this rattling noise coming from my 2005 m50. When I accelerate, there is something that sounds like it could be loose or possibly broken coming from the speedometer area. It's very loud and distracting. Any idea what it could be or how to fix it?

Thanks everyone!

Well, I cleaned the bike and tightened some things around the speedo up and it seems to have gone down a bit....but it's still pretty distracting.

Thanks for responding though.

I read someone had this problem and it was a loose screw on the speedo cover.

Maybe one of the rubbers on the gas tank that sit on the frame popped out. Another thing that comes to mind is the covers between the front of the tank and forks, which happened to me.

I had the same on my 2006 m50, what I did notice if I pulled up on the side of the tank it went away, leading me to believe the noise was from under the tank. I removed the tank to find that the connector plug for the warning turn signal lights was rubbing and vibrating on the tank, and had several spots worn through the paint to bare metal, I wrapped the connector in a piece of rubber and that was the cure.

I had a similar noise and the dealer fixed it right away, he knew what it was just by riding the bike around to the basck of the shop. I can't remember exactly what it was but it was definately something to do with the tank and some rubber washers, fixed it plus checked out the bike for $35.
