This questions was asked by Warren D. and was answered by Mark Zimmerman in "Tach Matters". Q: I just started riding a few years ago, so I'm still learning. If I were to put a low restriction air filter such as a K&N on my bike would this a straight swap or would the carb need readjusting or rejetting? A: As long as the filter is a straight replacement - that is, you're merely removing the old one and installing a new one (K&N or otherwise) no jetting or carburetor adjustment should be necessary. However if you're modifying the airbox to accommodate the new filter or removing it entirely and using something like a clamp-on filter, then yes, rejetting is required. My question: Would this logic apply to a fuel injected engine such as my C50? |
