Post C50 good choice?

Hey everyone. I am new to this site and the cruiser world, but not the motorcycle world. I am 20 and have been riding dirt bikes since I was 5. From everyone's opinion on here the C50 is a great bike and I have been looking at one for quite some time now and have decided to get it. I was wondering if this would make a good choice for me being my first cruiser, and for my large body. I am a football player and I am about 6'1'' and weigh about 270 lbs. So far your information has been very helpful in persuading my decision.

Have you looked at the M50?

Same engine as the C50, but more "agressive" styling. The M stands for Muscular. It may fit your "younger" feel alot more.

I agree with Tech...take a look at the M as well...although not to knock the c50...it's a great bike, I looked at one originally but switched to the m50 because of the combo between a sport and cruiser bike. Really, you can't go wrong with either one.

I've had my C50 since May and love it. I'm not quite as big as you, 5'9", 200 lbs. but the bike is easy to handle and practically drives itself. I can ride it all day long, very comfortable.

I'm a big guy ccoll5 and have absolutely no gripes about the C50's ability to get me around.
I'm not hot-dog street racer, but I'm no slouch on the throttle either.

C50/M50 is pretty much the same bike mechanically-speaking. If your going to choose one, sit on both and get the one that's most appealling/comfortable to YOU.

I'm only 5'5", so I can't say as to your size. However, the C50 does have plenty of power for a guy your size and then some. I love the ride and the feel of the bike. Had mine for over a year now and have no trouble on the longer rides.

My friend has the M50, so I have ridden both. They are both great bike, but it depends on what you're looking for.
The C is definitely a sit back and relax ride, while the M is more of a sporty type ride. There is a definite difference in the handleing and feel of each.
Personally, I like the cruiser style better, but they are both great choices of bikes.

Good luck and ride safe!

++1 - - but 'round here you'll pay an extra C-note or so for the M50's styling.

And while Rico is certainly entitled to his opinion - for me it's all about the C, dude

Default great bike!

I bought my c50 in april, grey/silver, and i LOVE IT!! I'm 5'7" 170, and both my feet touch the road whe i'm stopped. This bike has plenty of power, great styling, and the best factory sounding pipes of any bike out there-I drilled 3 holes in each of the exhust plates, and , wow! the deep rumble sounds great! I added a k&n filter, and it now sounds as good as my freind's yamaha 1100 w/h/c custom pipes...it really pisses him off that my "smaller bike" has as good a sound as his, plus, i can keep up with him when we're riding on the weekends!!

hey, new to the forum-bought my 06' grey/silver c50 in April of this year-have added a k&n filter, and drilled 3 holes in the first exhust plate of each pipe...wow! made a great difference in the sound, alot deeper rumble-no back fires, or popping like my dealer said i might experence...i have about 1600 miles on my bike, and my friends think i've got a harley because of the sound-I just tell them, "bless your heart", which in tex-ez, means f--k you, it's a Suzuki! At least, i don't have to have a long magnet to pick up all the parts that fall off while i.m riding like the h/d riders do!!

thanks for all the great info. i have looked at both the c50 and m50. i like the styling of the c50 better than the m50, and to me the c50 is more comfortable. one persuading factor with me is the dealer that i am going to is giving me the c50 for $5,599. they have these in overstock so i am getting a great price.

yeah it was a great price. i finally picked it up tuesday, and with the saddlebags, backrest, setup fee and taxes it came to 6500. i thought that was pretty good since it retails for 6700.

I have a 2005 C50 and would like to enhance the exhust sound. I see that several of you have drilled 3 holes in the exhust plate, but you also mention you added a k&n filter. Is this required when drilling the exhust plate, or can I just drill the plates? Also, what size holes do you drill?

Thanks

The k&n filter is not needed but might help get more air into the intake. Drill small holes first then get bigger untill you find the sound you like. Do a search on drilled baffles for more info. Lots out there.

I would imagine that you will catch the aftermarket exhaust bug after a while anyway.

The C50/M50 will handle your size no problem. Will come down to personal preference. Styling/fit(feel). The S50/S83 would be the one that would cramp you. I'm 6'06 220 and fit wise can't notice much difference between the C50/C90. M50 gives me the same fit just feels a little different, but like them too.
