| I feel a little better about my bike being out in the office parking lot by itself now: ![]() The little yellow thing on the disc is a Xena Disc lock with a built in motion sensor alarm. It's not the loudest siren in the cosmos (it says 110 db), but it should make it clear that my bike isn't sitting there as a play toy. The black panel over the alarm kinda looks like plasitic, but it's really pretty tough steel, the unit seems very hefty and solid. Not a bad picture from my Treo 650....

| How much was it if you don't mind me asking? Also, where did you get it? Quote:

| I got it from BikeBandit.com for $67.64 with an AMA Discount, $9.26 for an extra battery pack (the alarm ships with an extra battery already...) so it was about $81 for everything shipped. It's a Xena XR-1.

| Picked up one while looking at shirts at deals gap during the dragon ride Saturday....after reading what Rickster posted, I thought...."hey, better pick up one of those". Haven't tried it out yet, I agree with tlwisner, it's a very sturdy, heavy, well constructed alarm......I'm sure it'll hold up and do the job just fine. THANKS for pointing it out rickster!!

| I use a master lock ... i bought a 5 pack of 'em at wally world for less then $10 ... one key for the bags and the "disc lock". if someone wants the bike, no lock or alarm will stop them.... carry full coverage insurance if you're really worried about it (I carry it). If you're rich or are having a real hard time finding something to spend money on, that does looks like a sweet device.

| My oldest son's Disc lock saved his GSXR 750, then his Ninja 600R twice. All 3 times had to replace the ignition, but the bikes were not stolen. Best $70 bucks he ever spent. I use one, plus an Alarm with a pager. |

| what part saved the bikes? .. the lock ... because the master lock through the cross-drill holes in the rodor keeps the wheel from spinning and costs a bunch less ... that's what I'm saying .. I run a lock through the disc (wen i'm on vacation ... otherwise I do not lock it at all).... but its not an $80 lock. if they take the bike w/ the master lock on it, then they could have taken it w/ the $80 lock on it ... and either way my insurance covers the bike.

| What type of master lock are you using, is there enough room to get bolt cutters in there. The disc lock I got, included the built in Alarm, so if I stand my bike up it sounds, no attempting to ride off with disc lock in place. I carry insurance, but do not wish to deal with the hassle of the claim. Now if it was a Harley, I expect they would come in a truck and haul it off for the parts, I just want to keep, the joy rider, who destroys the rides they steal, away. Here, we send them away for a paid vacation when they get caught. |

| it would be tight .. but the smaller cutters would probably fit. After me and the bike build a relationship, maybe then i'll be more concerned about it getting stolen .. at this point, i really don't care. ... i mean I'd be upset and pissed .. but i can get another bike, ya know. ... i've got alarms on the cars, I do not want them getting stolen... i can't replace them. I've got a 2000 GMC sierra ext cab z71 loaded up i bought new, i've got 30k miles on it now.. i'm just now begining to care if something happens to it ... still don't have an alarm on it though

| My youngest had his big block Chevy Dually stolen a few years ago, the police told him he would never see it, as it was a favorite for the chop shops. 90 days later he got his check. ICBC can be a pain to deal with. So I want to discourage the dorks. Although a baseball bat would do wonders. Here when they show up for court, they use stolen cars. |

You may want to check with Sunny. If I remember well, she is a master operating the 2x4 and duct tape. I think she even considered cheaper and better than a restraining order. Baseball bat could get you arrested in some places!

| They have been using bait cars and are so happy, they are now adding bait motorcycles to the program. Victoria added bait bicycles awhile ago. Bait cars, the doors lock. Bait motorcycles ?????. Perhaps an automatic ejection seat, minus the chute, would provide the solution. A drop from a 100' would cure the need to "borrow" someones bike. |

Seen that movie "Walking tall"? The guy takes a bit of timber he beat up the bad guys with, and then makes it into his own personal beating-up-the-bad-guys-bat - keeps it in his ute.
