| Has anyone on here went from the M50 to the C90? I have only had my m50 for a little over a month but I am thinking of going tomorrow and trading. I know I will loose some money on this but not for sure how much yet. Will find out tomorrow. I was not for sure what I was wanting when I first got the bike but know I think I like to more cruiser look now and want more cc's.

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | The C90 is a great bike. It is alot heavier than the M50 and it does get less mpg. Expect only 90 to 110 miles before the low fuel light comes on. By 120 you are searching for a gas station. The bike will just pull and pull and pull. It is no speed demon but if you are looking to to some long distance riding or alot of riding in the mountains and hills you will appreciate the lack of downshifting required to climb a grade. It chugs like a freight train. It also has a low center of gravity,, one of the lowest of all the big cruisers due to it's gas tank located under the seat. It has as good of manners as some 800 cc and 100 cc bikes I have riden recently due to that fact. You will also notice the difference in the amount of room compared to the C50. Hop on a C50 then hop on the C90 then back on the C50. You will feel alot more cramped on the C50 once you do that. Not that the C50 is a small bike but the extra hip and slight leg room is noticable. The two different bikes have their pros and cons,, but from a LC1500 owner,, I love that bike and I am glad I have it. Even with it's little quirks.

| I actually found myself in the same situation. I had a C50. Loved it. Had it for 1 month put 1300 miles on it, realized I wanted something just a bit more relaxed on the highway. Went back to my dealer and traded it in on a C90. I only lost about $750 in the deal. Ouch nonetheless. The C90 is geared much taller than the C50/M50. So, the actual speed/acceleration is not a great difference (seat of the pants says much less than a second 0-60). Now, here is where I notice the difference....with the C50, on the Highway, I always found myself wanting another gear. With the C90, I sometimes forget to shift into 5th until around 65 or 70mph. That tall gearing is just perfect for the open road. Ok...now for the negatives. Where the C50 always returned 48-53 mpg, my C90 has yet to return better than 44mpg. If you really get on it, expect that to drop into the mid to upper 30's. My best cruising range to date (1500 mi on the C90) has yielded 140mi with only .4 gallons in reserve. Expect an average of about 125 mi/tank) The C50 would regularly cruise 160-170mi with over a gallon in reserve. The C90 was built for the highway. It seems to do everything really well. It is noticeabley smoother at speeds above 55 mph than the C50. I think the C90 may be one of the best kept secrets on the market. Bottom line. Am I glad I traded up? YES!!!! |

| There are quite a few very nice choices in the 1500cc - 1600cc cruiser class. I don't think any of them are as easy on gas as your M50 - but you might also check out the Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 and 1600, the Honda VTX 1300 and 1800, and the Yamaha Roadstar and Roadliner as well as the C90. Don't get a C90 without being sure it's the bike you really want. I'm not saying anything bad about C90s, I'm just advising you to do when I bought my C50 - check out everything that's available and find out what is the best choice for you.

| Thanks for all the positive feedback. I did go into the dealer and I have decided to keep my m50 for a year and then trade. I loose way to much right now. A lot more that seven hundred and fifty dollars and that is because I put nothing down when I financed. When the year is up I will for sure get something bigger. At that time I am going to look not only at suzuki but also Kawasaki and Yamaha and HD's.

| I was offered $4900 to trade last week. Not bad. Considering invoice on the bike was around $5600-$5500, and I've ridden it for a year.

| Waiting is a good thing...lol...I am not that patient. The M50/C50 is a great bike so I do not think you will be roughing it too terribly much. In Harrisburg PA where I live, a used C50 does not last very long in the dealer's inventory. Mine was sold within 2 days after I traded it. I will say that for me, I think that Suzuki really got the look of the C50 and C90 down right. Even the new Kawi 900 when seen side by side with the C50 does not look quite as refined and finished. I love the fuel injection and shaft drive. Of course the C90 also has the FI and shaft drive missing from some of it's competitors. I will be adding Roadhouse 2-1 pipes and the GTank to my C90. That will give me a total of 6.2 gallons of fuel and eliminate the primary shortfall of the C90. Good luck to you. Ride Safely. Remember, the M50 is an awsome bike.
