| First off, Thanks for everyones replies about my bike search. Here is another oppurtunity. I have found, through local classifieds, a 1988 Honda Shadow VT800C. The seller hasnt called me back yet. Online search results nothing but praise about this bike. From what I understand Honda only make this bike for one year, and its shaft driven? in 1988? The seller is asking $2000obo for the bike, which is alot under my limit. Is there anything I need to ask the seller about it? Or has anyone had any experience with this bike. Thanks and I promise that I will buy a bike soon, mabye this one is it......

| With a bike that old you want something to indicate that it's been maintained, whether it be paper or the word of an honest man. Shadows have been popular bikes, but you have to like to ride that kind of bike. Sounds like you do, so good luck.

| Although the bike was only made in 800cc mode for that year, the motor carried on as the PC800. (Pacific Coast) This motor has a great reputation. The Shadow 800 is a 4 speed tranny where as the PC is a 5 speed. This was the period of time where bikes were not selling dealers had bikes galore, I belive in Canada the bike listed at $8,900 and could be had for $4,200, the PC 800 listed at $9,600 and could be had for $4,600. In 1990/91 I was looking at both and still curse the fact that I did not buy. But check the bike out as some parts maybe hard to get. I am not sure how much diff. between it and the VT750 shadow of previous years. Last edited by blackie1491; 05-16-2006 at 10:27 PM. |
