Talking 06 c90t 90 miles to the tankfull.

my 2006 c90t has about 285 miles on it now. my problem is that I'm only getting about 90 miles to a tankfull until the low light fuel bar starts blinking. I fill her back up with about 2.99 to 3.02 gallons. I do a mix of city and highway driving. Any sugestions? I plan on waiting until I reach my 600 mile breakin point then putting on Cobra Speedster slashdowns and a Power Comander. But I know my MPG would go down even further.

Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Normal. The bike comes from the factory with 'break in oil', which is far thicker than what you normally use it it. The motor is also manufactured with very close tollerances, so it needs to shed some metal off the rings, etc, as it breaks in (that's why that 600-mile oil change is so important).
After the first service your MPG should go up by 10-12%, and then continue to improve slightly for the first couple thousand miles until you get more like 105 miles before the light comes on.

Good info!
I was worried about my gas mileage, too. I now figure it might get better.

It seems normal. I was worrying about that as well with my C90. According to local dealer this is normal until things settle in place. As I ride it more and more I see improvement on the MPG. Stops and go in the city are terrible with this bike but on the highway, WOW! It is great. On a rough comparison with other friends including a Deuce harley in the pack, they had to pull to the pump because they were pretty empty. I was still with three bars after 112.7 miles according to my trip meter.
In reality I do not have exact MPG data. I am planning to duplicate this highway outcome to better gage my bike on long trips. If this is true 112.7 and three bars left, then I can count on >160MPT highway riding. This is easily from Philly to NYC and back on one tank.
C90T, the more I ride it and compare to other bikes out there the more I like it. My only regret at this time was to buy the R1000. I am on the works to exchange for M109R.

90 miles per tank seems a bit steep. I bought mine last november and ran it in strictly according to the manufacturers instruction. My first tank full got 210 Kilometers which is approx. 130 miles.

I haven't done any mods to my bike yet but I would love to know how yours goes after you do your modifications.

The C90 is a great bike, the more I ride it the better I love it.

Have you considered getting your EFI remapped for your new pipes instead of installing a Power Commader?

Well after I put my aftermarket exhaust on my bike and re-jetted the carbs my gas mileage dropped. Just keep that in mind.

Question Please!

I just noticed that Mike is in California. The California models are different than others due to the emission laws. Based on this, is there any design in the California models that might or makes the C90 function diffently to other C90s design for out of california?
I got a tank full when i bought mine back in Dec. I wasted about one bar warming up during the winter days then when I took out for a ride I blew the rest of the tank with about the same outcome, milage in the 90s. I asked the dealer and an outside mechanic whose information was the same. New bike, heavy lube, breaking in, stop and go city drive, etc.
I find the US to be very different to any other place i have lived in over sea. There is too much stop an go here in the US, too many stop signs. Very little to none difference from one city to another, just about the same unless one goes rural. I learned to drive and swore over the stick shift trans cars until I came back home. It is a pain to drive stick shift here in the US. The closer to me would be New jersey with more open roads but PA, it's out the question, same applies to MC. There goes a full tank on those stop and go.

when I put the new pipes in after I break it in I will be removing that big Catalitic converter under the tank. Then I'm most likely going to install one of the 2.5 gallon pony tanks from GMan Industries in its place.

O.K guys here's the facts.

My C90 is six months old, 3000Kms on the clock, stock standard.

I went on a 855Km ride on the weekend (highways and mountain riding), average speed 120km/h, top speed 170Km/h.

I monitored the fuel consumption very carefully and averaged over the trip,
5.15L/100Km = 45.67MPG (US) = 54.85MPG (Imp)

The best fuel figures were when I was cruzing at about 120Km/h constantly, I got almost 60MPG (Imp).

My bike ran sweet, I was riding with two other suzie's (1998 VL1500 and a 05 boulevard) They both got a little worse fuel economy.

My mate's 05 model has had the baffels removed, a K&N filter and a Powercommander, he has picked up about 15% more power from the mod, he is a big guy and was riding two up so thats probally why he used a little more fuel.

Both of the other bikes used about half a gal more each fuel stop, but have more power on the dyno than mine and were running two up.

In my daily communte with highway and city driving (mostly highway) i have been getting around 130 miles per tank calcualted to 44mpg. During this past weekend, did a nice long ride staying mostly in the 45-60 mph ranger and wnet around 165 miles per tank (about 54mpg). I now have just about 2K miles on the C90T.

Mine started out at about 33 mpg, now with 750 miles on it I'm getting right around 43-44. I just put a k&n air filter in it and that should also improve things.

BTW, found out that on the '06's there are no o rings around the air cleaner. I practically had a fit when I went to change to the K&N and found no o ring.
Dealer checked the diagrams and the parts manual and there isn't one on this model.

I go about 120-125 miles before it starts blinking. Getting around 44 mpg . I ride about 40 miles per day. 20 up the freeway in the morning with no traffic and surface streets on the way home, rush hour, lot's of traffic and stops.

Same thing happened to me...however I was spending MUCH more time on the throttle and "blipping" the engine while idling so I could enjoy the sound.

Default 06 c90t 90 miles to the tankfull.

I bought my c90t in Dec 05 and am doing my 11000 mile check up next week.
I get about 51 miles/gal. My riding buddy has a 2004 road king and he fills up the same time I do. I have gone 175 miles on a tank and when I filled up it took 3.4 gals. I think there is something not right with you settings. Be sure and tell your service department

I think a lot of it may have to do with the Ethanol they put in the gas here in Arizona. Recently though my mileage has dropped from 44 to 38. I can't figure out why. Only have a little over 3000 miles on it now.

The first few tanks of gas on my M95 was also terrible. I was only getting about 25 MPG. After first service if improved to close to 40. Now I have pipes, intake and PCIII and get around 32 most of the time.

Made a 300 mile road trip yesterday and made the switch from premium (93 Octane) to regular (87 octane). Saw a big increase in mileage to just under 60mpg. Go figure.
