| Go to a car lot and ask who does their chip repair. An old girlfriend keyed my car once, and a car dealer recommended someone to me. He fixed it right up. Couldn't even tell when he was done. Didn't cost a great deal either.

| To remove my sticker, I peeled of the clear plastic coating and "painted on" some Goof Off over the sticker. Waited about 30 seconds then simply wipedthe sticker off. It came off like uncured latex paint. Less than 5 min including washing area and waxing. I would most likely touch it up carefully then put a tank bib on. I have had my bike less than two weeks and have some sone chips. Whate are you going to do? $hit happens. |

| Danr, yesterday I ordered this exact color (Suzuki YAY Pearl Nebular Black 4970) from this Color Rite site, plus the clearcoat jar. They have detailed instructions on how to get the best results on that website as well. I should have both the paint and the clearcoat mid-week next week. I'll chime back in on this thread after all is done. If it doesn't look right when all is done, maybe I could get the same orange warning sticker from Suzuki, and cover it back up like nothing ever happened. I need to get out to the garage with the digital camera, take a shot of the mark, and show everyone on here the damage, and why NOT to use a blade. I also just need a picture of the bike, in general, to put out here. ....not that anyone on here hasn't seen a totally stock '05 C50Blk before. It's still real pretty! and the scratch isn't THAT severe, about a 1/4", it's more of a problem of 'I know it's there' kinda thing. Last edited by thehobe; 04-14-2006 at 11:36 AM. |

| Not that this is any help but I got my tank sticker off using the hairdryer and goo off but buggered up the fender by trying to hurry things along by using a credit card! Put a gouge in the fender and some scratches. Like you I was really bummed out by it, bothered me big time.

| If the touch-up doesn't look good enough, and I have no luck with going to a car dealer to ask who does their chip repair, do you think I should just try and get the exact warning sticker from Suzuki and cover up the damage I did trying to get the original one off? That'll suck though. ...doing damage to the tank, just to put the same sticker back on. How much (approx) does it cost to get the tank de-badged, repainted, then re-badged? I know a tank bib is an easy solution too like a few of you have suggested, but I just don't think I'm into the look of those.

| By the way.... (crappy pics but...) here's my scratched tank: One for scale (circled in red): ![]() and a close-up (ignore the camera flash): ![]() You can see the undercoat, and even the steel of the tank is exposed in the middle of the gash. Hope other newbies can learn from my mistake. SUCKS! Haven't tried the touch-up paint yet. Wanted to show a before shot. That "Suzuki Nebular Black" finish is awesome!! You can make out the blue, green, and purple flake in the finish. Looks like I need a little swirl remover there too. Here's the whole bike, just for kicks: Last edited by thehobe; 04-17-2006 at 09:40 PM. |

| I happened to do the same thing. I got the paint repair pen from Suzuki, but it did not match very well, so I ended up repainting my tank my self. It ended up being a vicious circle of painting/clear coating and rubbing out the paint. which looks great now. If I had to fix a scratch again I would use a air brush to do it, I did not have one at the time. but the best way is to not use anything metal in the first place. Lesson learned for me.
