Default New Vulcan 900 ride

Yesterday while out riding my m50, I stopped by the Kawasaki dealer's for a chat. They were rolling out a brand new Vulcan 900 onto the showroom floor. It is a very good looking machine, this one in dark navy color. This was the first and only one they had received so far, and when the owner made a comment to the sales guy about him taking it home, I said I'd like to ride one, too. He tossed me the keys, and had the salesman get a dealer tag on it, and open the showroom floor! I'm like, "no way dude, you've got to be kiddding me", but there it was, gleaming in the sun!

I went for a quick four mile pop, which included on and off the highway, some bumpy road, and a few curves.... Have to say that the 900 is remarkably smooth running and riding. The belt drive does wonders, and the steering/suspension is quite dialed in. They have taken a lesson from the Suzuki 800s' and gone even further in the areas of comfort and smoothness. The fuel injection feels right, and the power is about what you'd expect for the displacement. Shifting is buttery smooth.

Came back all smiles, and the owner said he had been checking out my M50 while I was gone. He commented how he liked the styling on the fenders, and was amazed it had an inverted fork, shaft, and fuel injection, etc....

Don't think I would give up the m50 for it, but if they had the 900 back when I was looking, I could easily have gone that route.....

You know in this day and time with competition among companies so fierce you can't hardly knock anothers motorbike because they are so well made and user friendly. I guess that's one of the reasons I don't knock anyone else's ride....to each his own for whatever reason. JUST ENJOY YOUR RIDE!!!

It's great that motorcycle companies keep improving their wears. When I bought my C50, Kawasaki's Vulcan 800 was a weak competitor. The 900 looks like a very sweet bike!

Read a review of the 900 in Canadian Biker this week, seems that it is the new benchmark for middle weight cruisers.

that's funny to hear because even though I know my new m109 is around 700lbs it actually feels lighter than my m50 did at 550lbs.

I never imagined I'd buy a bike with 1800cc's but now that I have, it's not that much different (cept for the speed of course)

Anyway, thanks for all the helpful tips nightwolf, I always feel like i've learned something when you're around
