Default Steel brake lines

Has anyone installed new brake lines on a C50? I'm looking at ways to improve the brakes and have read that lines like Goodridge braided steel brake lines can improve performance. The C50's brakes are fine but a bit questionable at higher speeds and quick stops.

I have not, but the stainless lines should be an improvement on any bikes brakes.

I did just order a Galfer black stainess steel replacement set for my front brake lines. I'm about ready for new pads (SBS is my choice), might as well do it all.

One source for this:

Look forward to your performance report Tim. I'm not ready for new pads but I'd like to know how the new lines work out, whether it's better brake performance or just a better feel.

I just finished putting a new Galfer stanless Steel wrapped PTFE (Teflon) brake line on the front of my C50, along with a new set of DP pads and Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid that is supposed to have a much higher boiling point. I guess that will help when I'm riding my C50 in MotoGP competition.

The front brake takes much less effort to bring up stopping power in my driveway, I'm about to get my gear on and take it out for a test ride around the county, on the no traffic roads. I'll report back after.

My bike looks cool with the Galfer and K&N decals on the side of the bottom frame tube!

I ordered the black ones from them also back on the 4th of April. I am still waiting for them to ship them. Apparently they get them made somewhere else, then when they get them they ship it. Did you have to wait so long Tim?

I ordered mine on March 30 from Xtreme Revolution and got them today. I don't think anybody stocks them because there are so many kinds and colors available.

The colour of the bike looks good Tim, but then I am biased.

Did you get out for your ride and what was your opinion.

Thanks
Bob

I went out for a little 15 mile loop to check out the brakes, including some quick (not panic) stops from highway speed. The effort required for braking is certainly less, I could haul the bike to a stop with one finger, and I could brake effectively with two fingers. Using all four fingers, like you should, I had to use more finesse than before and apply the brakes progressively (more so than before) because the brakes have a lot more feel. I can't really say that I stop faster, since I also have new brake pads that are still bedding in - but the brake feel is nice. I don't have to worry about the front brake line getting old and squishy any more...

Sounds like a good investment.
Let us know how it feels after the pads set.

Thanks

After a couple hundred miles I have to say that the front brakes work quite a bit better now with the Galfer stainless steel / teflon line installed. Lots of power and feel.

Yep, for $60 it's certainly worth improving the brakes.

And you get to bling the Galfer decal too!

I am going to go the SS line and new pads and fluid route soon and was wondering why you went with DP pads ?
