Default Tired Hands?

I noticed my hands are pretty tired after a bit of riding.
Would new grips help alleviate this?

hmm what's a "bit" of riding (as in how many miles)? I would venture a guess that you're maybe gripping the bars too tight. I rode almost 300 miles this morning and my hands weren't tired one bit...but I keep a very light grip and always stretch my fingers out every 15 minutes or so.

In addition to the thoughts quacked above, are you sitting up staight or leaning back, hanging from the bars, so you have to grip them too tightly?

But to the original question, new grips can help. I like the ISO grips from Kuryakyn. They have gel pads to absorb vibration, which is nice. They are also bigger around than stock grips, and kind of sticky to the touch, both of which men you don't have to grip as tightly.

My right hand gets tired; no doubt from getting back into riding after being out for many years. I tend to hold on pretty tight to the throttle for some reason.

I learned to relax from racing, gripping the handles to tight creates arm pump and the burn. So you need to relax the grip and sometimes a soft grip can aggrivate the problem. Try to use only your palms on the bars for awhile, and wiggle the fingers.

So relax and flow with the wind grasshopper................

If you ride without a windshield, do you find yourself hanging on to the grips for dear life? I find a windshield helps reduce the "human kite" effect, eliminating the need for me to grab the grips too tight.

I was Conscious of grabbing too tight...tried to relax but the wind is strong without a windshield.
Was doing some fast riding too....
Got tired all over actually. Need to ride more to get broken in!
After all these years it's like being a virgin again!

Hey Old&Slow, I am 61 and have little arthritis in my hands, what I found out that will help is to take a looser grip on the bars, ISO Grips and Throttle Bosses on BOTH bars make a lot of difference.

Thanx Danr,
That throttle Boss is something I have to get hold of if and when I go any extended trips...

Must say that the backrest on my new Mustang solo seat eases the "human kite" effect too. Kind of helps me to relax a little more as well, as it takes away from the need to hold yourself up. Kind of gives it an easy chair effect.
