Default Drill the exhaust?

Salesman at the dealer said that quite a few C-50 owners drill six 5/16th holes in the rear plate of each mufflers to improve the sound of the stock exhaust. He said that I would be impressedwith the sound. Im not looking for anything real loud, just to add some rumble to it. What say you folks
Thanks.

I drilled mine last year and even went a step further and debaffled. It sounds better than stock, but still wasnt satisfied. I ended up buying V&H straight shots. Although, they are a little too loud....I enjoy them more than stock or drilling/debaffling.

Don't waste your time drilling them - de-baffle them. If you don't want them too loud you will be satisfied with the tone, and you won't make the neigbors mad. This site is helpful.

I drilled (4) 7/16 holes on my C50 pipes. When you are sitting still and rev the bike, there really isn't much differance. Where I really noticed a differance is when I'm riding and the bike is under load. It's not loud but it has more of a rummble that we all love and I feel my in tune with the bike because I can hear it, without pissing off everyone else. If you aren't worried about keeping a set of stock pipes, drill them. If you wan't more sound, debaffel them. If that isn't what you want, get aftermarket pipes.

I ride with a friend who rides a Victory Vegas with a stage one upgrade. The only thing I would hear was his bike when we would ride together. Now I can hear my bike and he even commented how my bike sounds much better. Still not as loud as his but that is okay too.

If this works, tell me what to do please...I can't hear my own bike when riding with friends or above wind at 30 mph. Did you just drill these holes in the rear plate around the center tube...how deep do you need to go...and does this require any re-tuning of the FI? I am not looking to be the loudest bike, I just want a little low rumble so I can hear it. Thanks.

I drilled in the center of the plate around the center tube. I lined them up so when the bike is straight the holes line up 2 accross and 2 up and down. The plate is thin. I have posted a picture of it. Try searching for simular threads.
good luck!

Here is the pic.

Thanks Night_ Wolf , just wanted to get as many ideas as I could so that I can make the right decision . In fact I may go with Sportster mufflers and drill a 1" hole in the baffles, I understand that they sound and look great.
