the meanie doesnt look tall enough or narrow enough to really lean in into sharp bends. I was also wondering if you could lift an M50 4" or so. taller fork and custom rear swingarm or something. I'm tall enough to not worry about seat hight. just throwing ideas around in my head, seeing whats possible and whats not, that griso is the ultimate, but its also $14grand.....

Do some research...I think you'll find that the meanie is for a large cruzer the best handling machine in it's class...
Unless your looking for a small bike.
An interesting article comparing big twins:

The Marauder is a Meanie in a Suzuki package!

well I was thinking 800-1100cc, I've got an LS650, which is aparently pretty good in the twisties, and from trying out the lean angle while parked (its a pretty light bike) it seems to like tilting over to the side quite far.... but eventually I am going to want something that fits me better, I am JUST a tad bit cramped on that machine. its in my garage to cut my teeth on you know, not keep forever

What about an S83. Light, nimble, good power to weight. Not sure how much lean you can get out of it??

The term Cruiser, and lean angle, don't usually fit in the same sentence. The "S" model Suzukis should be your best bet. If you really want to bump the handeling up, and still be comfortable, throw a leg over a V Strom.

well what I was thinking originally was SV650, cheep, plenty of power, reportedly beautifull in the corners and a real practical and worthy machine. but, I like the cruiser look and feel and the SV is kinda ugly (thats just a personal assesment, not to degrade anyone who likes the SV, but the yamaha and honda nakeds are much more attractive, though pricier and NOT VTwins....) but I may go that way anyways.

If you really want to have fun in the twisties move away from the cruisers to a standard or a sport bike. There's a world of difference.

Granted cruisers can do the corners and you can have fun with them, frankly having ridden both there's no comparison.

How about one of theseYamaha MT-01

I don't see it listed on the US Yamaha site, but we have it up here in Canada. I think it may be a european yamaha originally The local dealer has one and I fell in love first time I saw it. The lack of street bike experience and lack of funds prevented me from pulling the trigger.

This thing can haul, turn and look good all at the same time.

With a handle like old&slow, I can see why you would have a different opionion about this bike.

BTW, My hockey team (over 30 beer league) is named "old&slow". Suits me with skates on I suppose.

I agree, each to his own. So heres why I think it looks fantanstic.

If you see it in person is looks so mean. Its go so much presence and that stance... it looks like it wants to attack you. I love the bare bones look and not really into the full fairing sports bikes (although that is also changing a bit). I suppose its a love it or hate it type thing, similar to V-max opinions. I just happen to love it.

I just can't stop thinking about 110 ft-lbs torque on a sportier frame like that. You would would never get get the grin off my face (may have to do a load of laundry at the same time though).
