We have riders in Canada that I've heard comment on me riding an import, when I ask them since when is Harley Canadian?

I guess I have to throw in my 2 cents. I recently bought a Harley screamin eagle ultra glide. I spent the big $$$ on this bike because I wanted it. I like the way it looks ,rides, sounds and feels. I have ridden most brands of bikes including jap and european. I have found the reason you see a lot nore harleys for sale is that they cover a lot wider year span. If i had enough cash I'd have one of everything (come on lottery). I stop for other bikes when they are on the side of the road ,wave to them when we meet, and talk to any rider that wants too. What bothers the hell out of is the snide remarks from either side. Wish people would just shut up and ride

And I'll drink to that.
O yea I don't drink any more but I'll have a water.

I think we should quite this and everyone find a HD rider and take them for a ride and a drink and like wise ( I mean ride your own bike.)

I was asked this week by a group of 65 and over gents if I would like to ride with them this spring and summer on Wednesday afternoons and 3 have HD and 2 have others. So I'm going with them and try to make peace.

Well, I'm going for a ride with the PGR tomorrow. There'll be between 50 and 100 bikes there. Since is going to rain and snow maybe closer to 50. In any case, 95% of them will be HDs. We'll be paying our respects and escorting a young soldier to his final resting place. There won't be any discussion as to the type of bike anyone rides. Tomorrow, no one will care.

I'm sure we could post "What's wrong with..." threads until we're blue in the face (no offense Smurf). I mean, we can find something wrong with just about anything now-a-days.

I'm no big H-D fan, but I have no problem with H-D riders in general. As already mentioned here, riders of all makes/models can be jerks.

Well, I'm off to start another "what's wrong with..." thread.
Any ideas folks?

We could do what's wrong with gas prices. That's aways a good one.

My hats off to you, and the whole PGR group. You are doing a good thing!

We can share, make it a North AMERICAN thing. Milwaukee, York (PA) and Kansas city are a damn sight closer than any other motorcycle eng & mfg companies are. Unless BMW has done something lately.

I haven't really read through the replies for this thread, but my philosophy is;

Two wheels is two wheels.

Show respect to all riders. If they're different than you are, let them go their own way. If they're the same, then you've found another one of your kind.

Thanks, Rickster. I can tell you that despite the wind and rain 87 bikes and 5 trikes participated. Their promises to the contrary not withstanding, that crazy baptist group did not show up to disrupt the event (we were ready for them) and this young american hero was honored and laid to rest with the respect he deserved.

A little bad weather, and all of a sudden there "CAUSE" isn't all that important. Even crazy people know how stupid they look to the sane, but sometimes they just can't help themselves. I'm glad for the family's sake that it went good this time. Good job!

I look at this thread and scratch my head, look at how these vehicles hold there value even after you drive or ride them off the lot! I've always owed american vehicles mainly Dodges even with the lower value! I had a metric and loved it but have always wanted a harley when the cash and opporturnity and the 96 and 6 speed came out I couldn't pass it up. I'll never own a foreign named vehicle even if part for my dodge are made elsewhere it still doesn't say Toyota on it. But I would own a metric again.

Porsche didn't actually design the motor.

"Oh, and don't think for even a second that this motor is unhappy when it's called upon to sing a sweet high-rpm V-twin song. It was jointly developed by Porsche, after all. They know a thing or (GT)2 about building motors."

from the article.....Jointly.

The devil is in the details.

I've never seen a motorcycle I didn't like at least a little.

Yep, well said -- each is a little intriguing at some level... Over the years, as my interests meandered about the landscape of bikedom, I’ve entered similar metric v. Milwaukee v. Limey discussions from several vectors... Harleys can be expensive, but need not be... Metrics, according to lore, are infinitely reliable – most are, but not necessarily... Limeys are loveable – yep, as long as you love doing valve-jobs each winter... My impression is that the bikes don’t differ a whole lot (as long as we’re staying with the general cruiser – mostly twin-cylinder genre...), what differs is the riders...

At the moment I have both a metric and a Milwaukee product... both are wonderfully comfortable (same saddle builder for both, similar shocks, other ergos adjusted so riding one is largely like riding the other). Both have given me moments of silence along-side the road – but neither has left me stranded (nor, in forty something years of riding has any other bike... although there have been some long periods of embarrassing quiet while I scratched my head). My metric has broken motor mount bolts, as has the Harley... the metric has leaked oil like it thought I’d inherited Saudi Arabia, the Harley, dry – however I once rode a Shovelhead that wasn’t so considerate. Most important, neither cost me over $10K (I’ve only bought used – typically low-mileage garage-queens) and since I don’t frequent the franchise shops, parts are parts... no significant difference in cost between `em – I’m no accountant, but about six months ago I did a rough totaling of costs, and the Ultra was actually one of my least costly bikes – or at least it was before I decided to replace the break-pads, which then side-tracked me to add floaters, then braided lines and host of other stuff she didn’t need... the project got outa hand somewhere along in there...

Like I said, the difference is mostly in the rider
