[quote=Karmak;502209]I owned Harleys 40 years ago when they were considered the fastest and best handling bikes. Not much has changed about them, they are as fast and handle pretty much the same now as they did then. That is why I ride an FJR today. And I can afford Harleys. quote]

True, Harleys are as fast as they were 40 years ago, everyone is much faster these days though. I know, Harley is not about speed, it is the look. I and several friends will be riding 3 or 4 hundred miles tomorrow, a couple of 109's and a few other bikes including one harley. It will be a slower ride than usual, we have to wait on the Harley.

All the ribbing is in good fun though, I don't care what you ride, most of my fellow riders feel the same way. Just ride!

Your still young, eventually you'll look at Harleys differently, everyone does sooner or later.

If I start to want a Harley, I hope someone kills me first. I might be getting close though since I did come VERY close to buying a Buell 1125R. That might be the first step. Like when a crack dealer gives you that first free hit. Must say no. Be strong.

Not that the 1125R has a Harley motor in it or anything...

What's wrong with Harley-Davidson motorcycles? Well let see, I'd say that nothing's wrong with them, it's a machine just like any other except that HD has been successful for most of it's existence and will continue to be because they produce an excellent product. The only fault that I find is not with the machine itself but with the cost, they're over priced in my opinion, compared to Japanese metric manufacturers who build as good a machine but at much less cost.

I have noticed that the chrome on HD seems to be "richer" then my Zuki stock chrome. Maybe thats why my sissy bar bolts started bleeding rust after the 1st season?? Compare stock chrome, I think you will see that I am right as usual.

How much older do I have to get. My dad still wouldn't buy a Harley. And aside from Buell I wouldn't even walk into a HD dealership. I'd rather buy a Victory. And I'd still buy a Star Warrior 1st.

I know people that their whole vacation revolves around visiting a certain HD dealership. Some of them are like a Disney Land theme park. Harley is a state of mind, unless you actually own one, you will never know.

The slow ones would be the Harley owners.

Harleys are only slow because they don't need to go fast to impress anyone.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, so I'm not saying anything new. But maybe, what is wrong with a Harley Davidson, is the Harley state of mind.
