1990 Virago help!!

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to this forum (just found it today), but have a question. First off, I dont have a Virago, but I'm trying to help out a friend. He has a 1990 Virago 750 and needs a new "pinion" something or other (something to do with where the drift shaft connects to the rear wheel). Basically something has stripped itself out somehow and he needs a new piece. He checked with Yamaha and said that they want like $1200, but when I check ebay I see the whole drift shaft assembly for like $80, some for around $30, but that's for early '80's Viragos.

So here's my question: I cant find diddly for a 1990 specifically, would any other years or other models work for this bike? Are there any other models/years that are interchangable with this bike/part? I apologize for the lack of info, but this is all I know.

go to bike bandit & cross refrence the part with othe years you would have to look up every year to see if the part # is the same good luck

Not knowing exactly what your looking for I did a search on the swing arm for a 1990 XV750 pt# 1rm-22110-01-35. My parts info shows that this part fits the following bikes: 1994 XV750F(3JLG)/XV750FC(3JLH), 1991 XV750B/BC VIRAGO, 1989 XV750W/WC, 1984-1985 XV700L/LC/N/NC, 1988 XV1100V/VC VIRAGO, 1986-1987 XV1100S/SC/T/TC VIRAGO, 1984-1985 XV1000L/LC/N/NC, 1986-1987-XV700CS/CSC/CT/CTC, 1988 XV750U/UC, 1990 XV750A/AC VIRAGO, 1992 XV750D/DC, 1990 XV1100A/AC VIRAGO, 1991 XV1100B/BC VIRAGO, 1989 XV1100W/WC VIRAGO, 1992 XV1100D/DC VIRAGO, 1993 XV1100E/EC VIRAGO, 1993 XV750E/EC.

If you can get me the specific part/s number your interested in I can try to find other matchments.
