| Hi, I had my New M50 for more than a month now. I really love its electonic fuel injection system in comparing with my previous bike. The only problem is that the both plastic frame cover (left cover contains tool) became dull. It's no longer shiny black. It looked grey under light. They are always in contact with my pants. Do you have same problem and how do you deal with? Xiaoyu, |

| I've got an M50 black. There was a recent post about sombody useing a piece of adhesive vinyl clear film, cutting it with scissors, and then sticking it on where you want to prevent rubbing or scratching... such as from the notorius throw-over bags that usually rub your paint raw. An auto body shop, or a sign and banner shop might have this product. I don't have any scratches, Ok one or two of the ultra fine patina variety on the gas tank, I use Zymol wax which has organics like a Mother's wax product., good luck with it.

This will get that finish back on the cover: If you have and scratches and dullness from your jeans first use a scratch remover to take care of the minor blemishes (Careful don’t burn the paint be gentle) then use a polish to get that shine back (It might take you a couple of times to get the desired results but it should come back) Once you have you have your finish back to new, seal it with 3 coats of wax. “Get Quality Products” I like Meguiar's, Mothers is also a brand I hear works very well just make sure the bottles say it’s safe for clear coat. Purchase four separate bottles though. A scratch remover, polish, wax and whiskey. If you never used products like these before have someone show you how to use them, you can damage a finish. The whiskey comes in handy as a bribe to get someone to help you. Last edited by Rockhead; 02-24-2006 at 11:41 PM. |

| You have hit my biggest complaint about this bike. Cheap plastic parts and a poor finish. I have waxed (Meguiar's) mine twice since I got it in October and you can see swirlys everwhere. Maybe I haven't waxed it enough? The metal tank does not show these marks nearly as bad as all the plastic. All this plastic sucks. I know it has been said on here before that this is one of the ways that Suzuki has kept the cost down but that does change the fact that after 4 mo the finish looks terrible. Oh and before someone tells me about the cloth, I have used a soft-lent-free-cotton-made-for-the-job-found-on-the-shelf-right-next-to-the-wax-on-the-detail-isle-fresh-out-of-the-package-perfectly-clean everytime. OK, I am through venting.

| Try using a product called Protect All. You can find it at Wal-Mart and most auto part stores. It is very easy to put on and holds a great shine with no swirl marks at all. I started using it on my RV trailer but have since used it on my truck and bikes.

| Use a quality wax and apply in back and forth motion especially on black. Don't swirl it on like most people do on cars. Remove it the same way. Protect All is used in most shops as a convenience to keep bikes shiney and is good for quick detailing. Micro fiber cloths are great for removing wax and polishing.
