Question New Grips- How to remove?

Hey all. I put on the kuryakyn ISO flame grips last nite. The throttle side went on fine. I was "pre-installing" the left side, making sure the length looked alright and the need of a spacer wasn't. When I was sliding the grip on, I noticed I couldn't get it all the way up to where it would fit flush and go over the lip next to the switch housing. I repeatedly tried to push that up there to no avail. I thought that maybe when I applied the glue, it would provide enough lubrication for the grip to make that last 1/4" or so.

So I applied the glue and kept my fingers crossed, pushing that grip as hard as I could. I couldn't make it over the lip though. What the heck? I am real p'ssed right now, looking at the noticeable space between the grip and the switch housing.
Anyone have any ideas to possibly correct the issue?
Or ideas on best way to rip that grip off?
If I do take it off and attempt to put another one on, what is the trick to get it over the lip?

thanks!

I know alot of guys won't use glue, but will actually use a reputable hair spray instead. It is slick as snot going on and sticks well once it dries.

I'll have to take a look to see if this lip is attached to the switch housing itself. It appeared to be part of the handlebar, I could be wrong though, thanks for the suggestion.

I know on my bike there is a hole drilled in the handlebar that the switch assembly sticks into to keep it from sliding around.

Dumb question,, but did you remove the rubber screw in parts inside the handlebars??? They may have slid causing you to not be able to slide them on any further. Just a thought.

Good question, ya I had everything removed. When I "tested" without the glue, the first time the new grip slid all the way up over the lip with a little effort.
I then measured to check that the distance was good on both sides and wanted to validate again with the new grip on the left side on again. When I tried again, I couldn't get the muther up there, I was literally pushing with all my weight with my right hand and twisting at the same time, using my left hand to grab the front fork and pulling. I broke a sweat, that sonofa' wouldn't go back up there like it had the first time.

If you loosen the switch housing, spray some WD40 under the grip.
May have to do a few times, reverse the screwdriver tap the grip off.
A thin blade screwdriver or a hacksaw blade slid under the grip will also help to loosen. The keywords, be gentle.

Sounds like you left the rubber spacer to long. Which is keeping the grip from sliding all the way in.

Iceman, you talking about the rubber inside the grip itself, or the spacer that came with the grip? I didn't use the seperate spacer.- thanks
