Had to organize, resize and upload the pix here, let me try and see if I can upload all photos. Check out the flying Suzuki, pic 03. Overall the show was great but I thought the participation was less comparing to previous years. If interested, Carter motorcycles at 1502 West 3rd Avenue (Granville Island) have up to 70% off all accessories, 07/08 Honda inventory bikes and bike wash on Sunday August 24, 11 AM - 5 PM.

P.S. I washed and waxed our twins on the weekend and it rained on me this morning when riding into work, darn....

Max. allowable # of pix is 5, so here is another set. Check out the 09 Street Bob (pic 09), don't like the shorter rear fender but that's my favorite HD. Pic 06 is an 07 C50SE, looked liked all stock but a Burnaby rider entered this bike to the competition. Does anyone know the bike in pic 07? IMO, it was the second coolest bike of the show! Check out the 40 something Indian and the magnificent Hayabusa

Yet another set of pix. Pic 11 is an 07 Street Bob with obvious mods from Kitsilano, love this bike. Pic 12 is a 67 BMW, wouldn't mind having one of these indeed. Pics 13 and 14 is of the coolest bike of the show. The two cyl. are from a radial aircraft engine around 3000 cc, really well built bike.

Default Labour Day Weekend Trip

Hello fellow CW riders,

Me and my better half logged 1000 kms on the long weekend. Here's our version of Olympic National Park, WA ride and some highlights:

  • You cannot arrive at the border too early. At 7 am, there was 40 min. long line-up at the Pacific x-ing. So we took the Aldergrove x'ing and 539 straight down to Bellingham
  • If you're catching the ferry from Keystone to Port Townsend, make online reservations, you can also buy ferry tix online. Under 5 bucks per bike.
  • Stayed at Union and Forks. Don't count on Google Map directions, locate the address of the hotel/motel on a reliable map yourself
  • The road from McCleary [HWY 8] to Aberdeen (HWY12) is great to crank up on the throttle
  • We were soaked up in the Lake Quinault area , make sure you have rain gear, after all this area is rain forest.
  • HWY 101 along the ocean is absolutely amazing
  • From Forks to Lake Crescent it was one of the highlights of the entire trip. You and your best friend riding on an open road at 6 in the morning, [probably you know what I mean...]
  • Make sure to keep the tank full, didn't see any warnings in the Park area and stressed out unnecessarily at times
  • Gotta go to Edison Station again, intersection of HWY 11 and 237
  • Starbucks in Lynden if your taking Aldergrove border x'ing makes one of the best Latte (according to my wife)
  • Came across many riders [surprise ] 99% HDs and a C90 at the same hotel, couple of Metric cruisers. Can't identify sport bikes on the road so they're excluded here. Everyone waved at each other, even on a 2-lane divided hwy, from most right lane across to the other right lane, kind of funny

Interesting read Elvis. Thanks.
I think I may take my daughter out for the show/ shine. Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard about that one. Kilby is a beautiful area. Most of my visits are during fishing season, accessing the Harrison river. If the weather holds out, should make for a great day.

Sunday forecast shows sunny and pleasant at 22 C. Hope you and your daughter will enjoy the day. I agree it's a beautiful area to ride but will be away and miss it this year.

We might go to salmon spawning channel before our insurance expires this Fall.

Take some photos to share please.

E.

Made it to the Kilby show and shine. Mostly harley riders. Saw more than a few bikes with hells angels stickers on them.
Some cool custom bikes to be had. Live band rocked as onlookers took in the sites. More bikes on the road than i've ever seen on a ride. Beautiful day for an event like this.

1st pic is of bike traffic on the Albion ferry...

Murphy's law...battery died on the camera. Carried on to Harrison Hot Springs and then back home via hwy 7, and had some fun jockying for position with a sportbike...gotta love the Vmax...

A good day all in all.

I agree Bob, it would be nice to plan a ride together.
With the kids back in school, it certainly free's up my day a bit.
Most of my free time has been fishing the rivers this last month or so.
I'm heading up country for one more shot at the lakes before ice up...so my schedule won't be open until Friday of next week. Kick that around, and I'll check in when I get back.
BTW, when is your insurance up? I'm good until Oct. 14th, and may extend if the weather is good. Don't think I'm going to go all year round this year as last year was a washout.

Cheers, Darren.

Mine will expire on Oct 18, I think? Looking forward to going back home and riding the C50 this Friday. So homesick already.

My wife and I take every opportunity to go for a ride before the rains start and we usually end up on the south of the border.
