I was hoping to ride out to it.
My oldest was over last night he would like to go on Sat.
He and my grandson, both hope to go. Although the grandson is only 22 months, he is into motorcycles, anything that makes noise!!!

Well the son could not make it. I rode out at 10am and the lineup from the Airport was all the way back to the Fraser Highway. Wall to wall people, if I took a picture all you would have seen was heads and elbows.

And the number of women looking at bikes was way up.

But at least I saw the importer out of Quebec, who is bringing in the Nolan helmets.
Will be here in Feb., I was looking at the N-com ones with bluetooth.

Also while I was there I got a quote on optional insurance from Bartons.
$500 deduct., 12,000 value, 1 year, fire , theft=$365 no mileage limit but does not include back and forth to work. I did not ask how much that was.
There had to be 6 diff. outfits after the optional insurance on bikes.

I've heard that place is a zoo on the weekend. I always try to go on the Friday. At least you made it Bob.
Did you go with CDI last year? If so, what's the latest and greatest based on what you saw?
Got out on the bike for a couple of days a few days back. Sure felt good.
I noticed the Friday forcast is talking snow again.
Crazy winter for sure!

I took a look at the policies again and went with CDI for the optional as it also includes some Liability on top of ICBC.

At the show the largest increase seemed to be in the scooter selection.
I liked the 07 Victory line up.
And I have always liked AIH's Slammer. It is the cost that is the problem.

For a cruiser rider, the selection is mind blowing. A big change since the late 80's.

The number of riders is growing!!!!

Hey Darren;
I have been out a few times between the wind and or rain about 50 to 100 per outing is about all I get in. The bike is so dirty from road splash, it is going to need a good detailing. I spend 1/2 hour just getting the grime off each trip.

How is the family doing, it has been good ski weather.

I see you pop in once in a while. Are you taking the family away for spring break?

Let me know if you are up for a ride seems to me it is my turn for the coffee.

Bob

Hi Bob
About a month ago things got pretty busy and all i could do was pop in for a quick look. Not much time to chat from work either.
I actually just got back from Hawaii- one week on the big island, and one week on a cruise with NCL touring all the isles. Sarah surprised me with it. It was just the two of us. Grandparents took turns watching the girls.
We had a blast. We rented a HD and toured the north coast and had so much fun that we rented another HD when the cruise ship pulled in to Kona. We toured the southern tip.

The weather was perfect- mid 80's the whole time.
We also rented a variety of cars to explore the islands...a couple of mustang convertibles and in Kuhai, a Chrysler Crossfire to take the canyon road up to Waimaya(sp) (mini Grand Canyon). The handling on that car was a blast through the canyon felt like it was on rails.

While I was gone some parts for the M arrived, and with the nice weather took the time to install. Mini floorboards are on and most recently the heel/ toe shifter (Have to thank YOU for that endoresment )

As for spring break, Sarah has to work, so I may take the girls up to Whistler or some kind of day trips. Will have to figure something out.
Rode in to work this morning and have to admit it was a little chilly. Had to laugh this morning. Since it's been awhile since I've worn the chaps you sold me...you think I could figure those things out at 04:30 am!
I finally gave up and put on my windbreaker pants. Zipper inside the thigh or out?? I'll have to put those things on when I'm not in a rush and a little more awake ha,ha.

Hope all is well with you and family. Sunny weather is hopefully around the corner...Coffee and shootin' the breeze sounds good.
Take care bud
Darren

Good to hear from you Darren.

Put on 250kms yesterday, that body they found was just up the road, past where we turn off. I was out there and thought they had blocked the road for a wash out.

As for the chaps, just lay then out on the bed, sit on them and do up the legs then the waist. Easy old man way. They are great to clean off road splash plus add a layer of warmth. But also pickup a pair of fleece lined jeans at Mark's Warehouse. Keeps the lower legs warm.

Make sure you pop into M50 thread some of the guys wondered where you were.

Also pop in here and see if this patch is for you. I have one coming.

Cold out there Darren.

Sounds like a great trip. Better take care of the wife, several guys here will be lining up to take your place next year.

How did you like the Harley's?

I stopped by Holeshot this morning, several new bikes have sold signs on them.
Just a few bikes out on the roads to-day, I think they were smarter than me.

Take care.

I was hoping to rent a road king or fatboy. I pulled into the shop on a Sunday night and pretty much had my pick for the week, or so I thought. I called in the next morning with my decision and almost everything was scooped up. The shop found me an 07 Electraglide Classic. The other bike was the same model but an 06. Very nice bikes. My biggest priority was passenger comfort, not knowing how far we would ride. I think we got the best available for what we wanted to do. Cargo space was more than adequate with two side bags and a large trunk.
A cool feature that I did not know about was the how the radio volume increased and decreased with engine rpms. Self cancelling turn signals are also pretty addicting.

At this point I wouldn't run out and buy one, but I have no complaints about their performance or ride. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. I've got to install another program to resize pic's as irfanview doesn't work for me anymore.

My 84 Wing had the Radio volume increase and the self canceling signals.

Did it have an intercom? How was the handling at low speeds?

Sounds like the 2 of you had a good time away from the kids.
It was good you guys managed a break like that.
Did the grandparents spoil the girls?

So, are you now a HD convert?

Both bikes had the ability for intercom built into the dash, although none was offered with the rental and I didn't even think to ask.
Funny you mention handling at low speeds...Mid day on the big island, between school traffic and road construction, I had my share of low speed maneuvering. I have to admit it seemed like it took alot more effort to keep her steady. After hopping back on the M, it felt so good at how easy she was to ride. As for HD convert...No.
I still can't justify the quantam leap in cost. The bikes were easy on the eyes and comfortable, but I don't think the quality of American iron justifies the cost. Metrics are just too good for the price.

The kids were counting the days until we got home...My guess is both grandma's were too, he,he.

Managed to escape the rian on the way home from work last night. It started to spit on the Alex Fraser, but that was pretty much it all the way home. Looks like we're in for a soggy weekend.

When I was at Holeshot yesterday, I was talking to Mike in Service and watching the guy across the way unload new motorcycles at the Chinese dealership.
He had them stacked 3 high on the forklift and moving them into his shop.
You know what happen next, as he backed up the forklift the top motorcyle in its shipping container toppled off. He then got off the forklift and stood the container up, turned to the 10 or so of us now standing watching, grinned , waved, climbed back on the forklift and drove into his shop.

The lesson here; do not stack motorcycles 3 high when moving them.

Not the Yamaha dealer across Langley ByPass, but in the building across the driveway, they sell Scooters, dirtbikes and small cc street bikes. All are from China.

Sun came out and away I headed, the wind was blowing,an hour into the ride
Hail for 10 minutes , then after that a rain storm. It was chilly to say the least.
Sure could have used a hot chocolate.

Bike is dirty! To cold to do more than a quick wipe down.

I don't know where this weather person gets 46 degrees, must be in a garage with the door closed.

Hi Bob
I finally got around to getting my vacation pics onto my laptop, and want to resize some pics for the forum. What is the current program you're using to resize? I used to use irfanview but it stopped functioning a long time ago. I'm not sure if I want to install it on my new computer. Any thoughts?
Darren

I was using paint to resize, but I don't recall resizing last couple of times.

I think Clint and Don posted diff. sites to use.

Have you been riding to work lately or using the Canoe???

Bike is so dirty I will have to leave the cover on when I take it out for a ride!!!

Looking forward to the pics.

Bob
