You know I don't work at the post office right? I actually lived in Calgary for a while but I'm from Kitimat and the big city is just too much for me, and the small towns are horrible because everybody knows your business. PG is the perfect size...and it's going through a boom finally so it's actually turning into a nice little city

I was in Calgary, 84 & 85.
Spent 11 years in Whitehorse, then Hope, Inveremere, then Calgary.
Total of 17 years, then headed back to Vancouver, my hometown.

It had gone from a small city to one I found had grown way beyond expectations. I missed the green grass, even enjoy the rain.

I know what you mean about small towns, Hope and Inveremere were that for sure. Pass gas and the lady 8 blocks away would tell you about it.
( and Don, that was without your Texas Chili)

Atlas
It is late for you.
Have you switched to the late shift schedule?

I think it is now going to cost a donut with that coffee.

Last N/S Bob. Whoo- Hoo!

I'm thinking of a ride on Monday. You got some time? I want to start after taking the kids to school, say 9:30 or so. Not sure of a destination yet. I'm going to check some sources for day/ aft. rides. Hope the weather cooperates. I'll tee up with you B4 then.

Hi Bob. The weather looks ugly for tomorrow. In addition to this, I've got family commitments that have come up, so the coffee will have to wait for another day. Take care, Atlas.

The weather has been great and is forcast to remain that way for the rest of the week

A few miles out of Hope, heading West had to swerve to avoid a dead Bear.
Must have been clipped by a big rig, no skid marks and he was halfway into the lane.

It is a shame but I am glad I did not hit him.

No signs of brakes being hit or any damaged automotive parts.

Nice to hear you're out riding Blackie, enjoying the great weather we've been getting. Wish I could have fit a day or 2 with you. Still dealing with that 'family situation'...
A week and a half ago, my oldest daughter, almost 17, was out dirt bike riding with some friends on their acreage. She took a fall, which in itself didn't hurt her, but she got pinned under the bike with the exhaust laying across her right calf. The bike was too heavy for her to get out from under it, so the pipe just sizzled until one of her friends could get over to her and lift the bike.
The result is 3rd degree burns. She has been in the VGH burn unit since Saturday. It turns out she's needed surgery for a skin graft. The surgery went well. Looks like she'll be there for the rest of the week.

Despite all my talks with her about wearing protective gear, it didn't dawn on her to wear proper protection riding in tame farmer's fields. She happened to be wearing pants that end at the knee, so the pipe was against bare skin. It's sad to see her having to endure this kind of pain. Pretty hard lesson to learn. She hasn't given up on dirt bike riding, but her perception of safety has been kicked up a knotch.

When things settle out a bit around here, and if your still on the road, we'll get you that coffee and catch up.

In the meantime, keep avoiding the roadkill and enjoy the 24 deg weather.

Sorry to hear about your oldest daughter, I hope it goes well for her.

Tell her stuff happens, it took 2 to lift my 800 lb bike off me 10 years ago.

I expect a donut with that coffee.

Take care.

Hey Darren, are you on late shift now.
I drop my bike off Tues. late for new rubber, pickup Wed, afternoon.
The rear looks like it could go another 2,000 miles but in the cooler weather I was getting close to lockup and she was sliding around on the tar snakes.
When it warmed up last week the grip was good.
So it will be 14,000 miles when I change, am changing both.

I put Eric's e-mail address in the thread for Extreem Suzuki.
You might check with him re bags.

Let me know when the coffee is hot.

Hi Bob
Tis my last night once again. Seems to be the only time I get to paly catch-up on the forum. You going with the same rubber...or something new?

With my daughter home from the hospital now, I imagine I'll be a homebody this set off.
When does your insurance run out? Are you planning to store your bike at Holeshot this year? Looking forward to our next ride, hopefully it happens before you put your bike to bed.

I hope she is doing well.

The tires have been on hold with Holeshot for months as I expected to need them sooner. But the downtime with my foot set that back.
The cost here for IRC's was too high, so I have Bridgestone's.
The diff. tread patern means I will change both.
I was happy with the IRC's and had this been warm season would have pushed beyond the 14,000 mile mark.

I was told the bridgestone have better water disbursement and hope their lifecycle is as good as the OEM's.

I am insured till the begining of Feb./07, will delay storage till end of Oct.
Will book my time at Holeshot next week. I don't like to keep the bike in the carport thru the rainy season.
Will want to breakin the tires prior to the heavy rains.

I was looking at the 7,000 biker Toy Run to-day. Too many for me.

Hi Blackie
I've ordered some ISO grips from holeshot and I'm going to pick them up today. Since you've done the install, do you have any helpful hints?
I want to remove the clutch grip intact just in case of future use. I was thinking compressed air. If this is the case I'll have to do the install at work. Any suggestions without using air?

Thanks Bob

Atlas.

I loosen the bar ends, removed. Loosen the switch housing, sprayed some WD40 under the grip and off it came.

My problem was the glue that came with the grip. I did the instal in hot season lasy year and it gave after a few weeks. Then used superhold hairspray and that gave after a few weeks. I ended up buying some dirtbikegrip glue and it has held since. (Scotts)
Clean the bare bar with emery cloth and dry fit to line both grips the same.
Then apply the glue to the clutch side. Quickly slide into place and twist a couple of times to set the glue.

The instructions with the package are good. Take care on the throttle side.
I used a hammer and screwdriver to tap the grips off.

There are instructions on a site, I will check.
