| First time poster to this forum and potentially a first time motorcycle (Suzuki) owner. Last weekend I completed my MSF course and yesterday I did the motorcycle shop circuit. I actually enjoyed meeting the different owners, sitting on the different bikes etc. I learned quite a bit about cycle fit and comfort. I was sort of surprised that I couldn't test drive or even rent the bikes due to my lack of experience. But I understand the shop owners reluctance. The most comfortable bike I sat on was the Intruder Volusia 800. The shop owners were very positive about the bike and it seemed to fit me well. I'm 6' 1", 210lbs. Reviews that I've read have been extremely positive. My questions to the forum are; mechanically how does it hold up? Are there any usual problems that people are seeing with the bike? I haven't heard anything yet but maybe someone who owns the bike might be more informed. Finally, any comments from the forum as to that choice as a first bike? Thanks for any assistance. I hope to read and contribute as I can in the future. |

| Seat Tester | Well, I will just say Welcome to the board. The guys here have an unbelieveable amount of combined expertise, so I will let them handle the questions concerning the bike. Again, welcome, and we hope you stay a while.

| Great choice for a first bike. Handles and has better balance than my first bike, a Honda shadow (600cc)(vlx). Check out VOLUSIA OWNERS LEAGUE.COM for more info and experience than anyone could want. I bought used and have 13k miles trouble free with regular mantainance. There are some minor things you can improve, but mine's the toyota camry of bikes as far as being trouble free, yet enough bike for most things.

| Thanks for your replies. There was a used Honda Shadow for sale at one of the shops that the salesperson thought I might enjoy but I felt much better in the saddle of the Intruder. I plan on also checking out the Volusa Owners League as you suggested. Thanks again.

| Volusia is a great bike, very good value and dependable. Lots of aftermarket parts available. www.volusiaowners.com
