| I saw a few of the OCC bikes at the Texas State Fair this year, and while I will admit that they looked pretty cool, they certainly did not look like they would be comfortable riding. One of them looked like the seat was a 1950 tractor seat mounted on a couple of old sofa springs! |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Most of the bikes built by OCC (at least for the TV show) are show bikes. They are designed as art, not for functionality or comfort. Much the same way that most of the clothing that is presented in Milano or Paris is art, not intended to be worn to the office. What about "Pimp my Ride"? I've seen this many times, and always wonder why they make such a big deal about the paint job, suspension and electronics, but never mention the motor. If they are going to "pimp" my ride, I want more horsepower (and good music), but don't particularly care about 19" chrome rims that I can't keep clean.

| Uechi, I got hooked on it too while unemployed for a bit. I went from initially hating the ogre of a father to realizing that he really loves his kids. they DO make some awesome bikes and recently have done some wonderful things for special interest groups, etc. A huge part of actualizing one's success is when you can give back to those in need. then you've come full-circle. Wish they'd have a presence at the Laughlin (NV) River Run bike show though! Many of the other "biggies" are there I'm told, except OCC. Oh well, I'm still going end of April nonetheless... Hang in there and hope the job sitch rectifies soon... Been there, done that so I feel for ya... don't let it spoil you having a Happy New Year!!! Best, Daryl CenCal

I agree, you at least learn a bit about how they are put together. Rake angle, swingarm, ect..But I have never seen them use anything but a pushrod, air cooled motor when building from scratch. Last edited by Jiffyjam; 01-03-2006 at 08:00 AM. | |

| I like American Chopper, biker buildoff, and build or bust. I like build or bust the best because they are building thier own bikes with limited help, some more than others depending on thier abilities. It is really dissapointing to see some one bust but really gratifying to see them succeed. I would love to buil a bike from scratch, but $ is the issue.

| Hell. I'd like to see OCC use a welding helmet once in a while. I feel they do a great disservice welding without protection. Other than that and the fighting, they make some nice bikes (well their guys do) From what the producers told us, the main people of the show are only there when the camera's are rolling.

| Top Gear ! Full Throttle! ![]() | a welding helmet...how about a DOT approved helmet of any kind? They constantly take untested bikes out on the road without protection of any kind, and sometimes even in snow. I'm lucky that I have cable tv access inside my office. i monitor the cable connection for our public internet usage in the building, at least that's how I spin it. Watching American Chopper and the other biker/auto shows that are on between 8 and 11 AM helps me keep my brain from melting in the boring swaths of time that I have during the day. Plus, watching Paul Sr scream about the most pointless stuff and watching Paul Jr fight back for no apparent reason not only reminds me how good my job really is, but shows me how to deal with idiotic supervisors who don't know what they are talking about.
