Default Listening while riding

One of the (very) few things I miss about driving a car to work is listening to the news & music. I'd like to find something I could mount on my C50T that would be easy to control but I'd like to hear some thoughts from any other bikers that have done this. My commute is in fairly heavy traffic so I'd like know how distracting you found it. Would this be a dumb thing to do?

This site (http://www.airrider.com/) has some gear that might be interesting but it doesn't look quite right. I'd like it to be bike mounted with big controls so I'm not fumbling with teeny buttons while playing frogger at 70 bmph. Any thoughts?

Default Bike tunes

I have been looking at some speakers from 2 wheel tunes, I saw them installed on a Harley Road King, and they sounded awesome even with drag pipes. A bit on the pricey side at $450 - $500 for the set, but they are 2" chrome (or black) and they come with the amp, all mounts... even a mount for your ipod, walkman, or satellite radio. Maybe santa will see this post and respond

I have an MP3 player with an FM radio. The radio doesn’t work great but I've loaded the MP3 player up with a ton of tunes. I don't "rock out" but I have the volume at a level that I can hear it with no problem. Like back ground music.

Just picked up a mp3 player and really enjoy it on longer rides, especially highway riding. Don't like to use it around town, though. Too many things happening.

MP3 player is the way to go. I just turn mine up loud enough to hear in the back ground and it makes every ride better.

I like listen to my MP3 player too. I'm thinking about getting (2) 4" spot light housings and mounting my own speakers and an amp in the tool box. The kits that are sold are too expensive.

I love my iPod for riding, especially with the Shure E2c headphones. I can kill a little road noise and keep the volume low enough that I still hear the bike and traffic. The guys at work thought I was insane until they tried it. You definitely dont want to be in helmet with tunes ripping. I've created a couple playlists that I change up depending on where I'm riding too. Just watch out that you dont end up with a random rotation and get stuck on the "wrong" album for your ride. I forgot I had a couple of those songs... Sinatra is great, but can be a bit TOO mellow for cruising.

I like the tunes while cruising the highways and country roads - but I'll forego the tunes in heavy traffic.

I use a 1GB Sandisk mp3 player / FM tuner hooked to some IMC HS-200 in helmet speakers that sound very good.

Hey guys, I just got my system in the mail from 2wheeltunes.com , I got the universal metric chrome system. I am awaiting a couple of accesories for this speaker system. I will be using the XM Roady2 satellite radio, but found out I needed a voltage reducer, and a separate volumn control.... Parts should arrive right after the 1st of the year. I heard this system that was installed on a HD Road King Custom, and it blew my socks off. Even in the shop (can you say echo) with screamin eagle pipes, and the tach reved up near 4K, this system rivaled my Bose at home. Can't wait to get it installed (yup I'm an electrical moron) after the new year. For those in Tampa, I'm dealing with Tampa Vee-Twin, great people and shop (even if they do specialize in HD). I'll be sure to post pics after the install is done.

Merry Chrismas to all, Griff
