Walter, I respect your opinion on your decision to call the M50 boys' bike. I can live with that all day especially when I stop at a fuel station or stopped at a light and get more attention than any of my riding partners with bikes ranging from Harleys, BMWs, Kawasakis, and Yamaha. Most of all, I'm 25 and this is the best bet since giving up sport bikes.

I think it would be more like if you want an old man grandpa looking bike, get the C50. If you want a mans bike that turns heads and gets all the compliments, get the M50.

It's youthful enthusiasm, my friend. Besides, there's no denying that the M50 is a chick magnet. I say that from personal experience.

These M50 kids have not matured enough to notice the C50 guys have all the chicks on their bikes.

I think I am going to skip the C50 stage. When I get too old to enjoy speed, I am probably just going to go straight to the Goldwing.

TM50.

The C50T has a great seat and long distance riding position.
The fastest I have driven mine is about the 85-90mph mark, and it is definately not a cruising speed thats for sure.

I do 90% of my cruising at the 65mph range and then open her up some days to 90 mph just to clean the pipes a bit. It definately still feels stable and safe at 90mph, but havent tried top speed yet, too scared of speeding fines, not the bikes handling

I was looking at the exact bikes and here is my $.02

Honda- least powerful and carbs are cold natured, not a huge deal in Fla. but it has been near freezing at my housde in the morning the last few weeks. Honda fit and finish is second to none and tons of aftermarket accesories

V-Star 1100- same as above a little better power on the high end

Both are sorta Harley clones

M50- totally different styling, clean and aero dynamic looking- a little faster than both but hey we are talking cruisers if I wanted speed I would have followed the rest of the guys I work with and got a Gixxer, seat was tough but after 500 miles I can ride for hoursa with no problems and the riding position you get used to. I have had my bike at 105MPH and was still climbing whjen I finally got arounf the 2 semi's on Hwy 50 that were screwing with me. I ride almost everyday to work at 35 miles one way and generally cruise at 80 mph on th4e Suncoast Expressway. After market weak now but will get better and I loved the bike from the start so all I plan on adding is a sissybar to hold my backpack and maybe the intake, power commander, and de-baffle the exhaust because I like the looks of the pipes and do not want to change. Oh yeah, I also will keep the badges on becasue I'm proud my bike is a Suzuki and I spent only $6300 not $10-15,000 for a harley. De-badging isn't just to "clean up the lines of the bike" its to hide. But this is just my $.02, take it or leave it but its objective, well except for the last part.

+1

I ain't embarassed o' my little Zuke!! Fully badged and proud of it!

I get a kick out of the jack@sses that look at the badges and tell their friends its a new Harley.

Or come out of an establishment and find a couple of sportbike guys on their heels peering into the end of that big bad Jardine Megaphone with a 3 1/2 inch opening. Scratching their heads trying to figure the whole deal out.

I like the fact that very few people come and ask me questions about it because they don't know where to start. They look, but you can tell the lights are on, and nobody's home. Their propably smart enough to know they don't know what it is even with the Suzuki name on it, and don't want to embarass themselves by asking. How does that go? "It's better to be silent and thought ignorant, than to open your mouth and prove it."

Somebody asked me yesterday if my bike was a "sportster". I said it doesn't look anything like a sportster, not even close. They looked at me like I was dumb. lol

Send them down to Wichita and I'll gladly show my bike collection.

I know there's a M50 section but since I have so many peoples attention on this one already, I'll just ask here. Another thing I'm concerned about on the M50 is the lack of cargo space. I would like to be able to ride to work but the way it comes, there is no luggage rack to carry my lunch box. I'm sure there are after market racks but I'm concerened they might take away the sporty cool looks. A sissy bar would also be in my future for the wife but again, do they take away from the looks?

I don't like the way saddlebags take away from the look of the M50 so what I do is wear a backpack to work with my lunch in it. Really can't even tell it's on when i'm riding so it works out really good for me.

jkulysses----I did the same thing. My lovely bride got me this for Christmas.

KuryakynTM Grantour Bag
Made in the USA
With multiple mounting options – sissy bar, luggage rack or passenger seat – this versatile bag is the ultimate companion for overnight trips or short tours. A semi-rigid internal framework serves two purposes. It helps the main compartment hold its shape (even when empty) and it provides adjustable lumbar support for the rider's back. Large zipper pulls are glove-friendly. Retractable locking device keeps the bar right where you want it. Made of Cordura® and leather, the weather-resistant Grantour Bag comes with a rain cover for added protection. 16" tall, 11" deep and 14" wide.

So far. I think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread. I just throw in all the stuff I take to work. Lunch, etc. I keep extra gloves and stuff in one of the pouches. The main area looks like it'll hold a twelve pack. I'll give that a go this weekend and see how that works. It holds a lot of stuff.

What's great about it, is you don't need a backrest for it. It'll mount under the passenger pad.

VStar 1100 has a quarter mile speed of 14.91 sec, the M50 does 13.99 - both per MCN tests. Their M50 topped out at 107 mph, the VStar 1100 topped out at 94 mph. The M50 also does 0-60 mph a second faster. Results from the Jan '06 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News.

Not to flame but...check your tires' air pressure. I cruise almost daily at 75-80 and no vibes. You probably have a rubber 5-10psi low. Now the pressure from the wind is intense but no vibes and not a big fan of windshield's. Just got the OEM Suzuki low sissy bar and it looks great, doesn't take away from the lines or anything.

My M50 cruises nicely at 80- 85 indicated speed. I have not tried it any faster yet. Want some more miles on it before opening her up.
