Default Experience = Counter Steer = Scrape Boards

Well guys after riding for 4 weeks now and reading a good book about motorcycling by a local guy here in New Zealand.

I started to actually physically counter steer as apposed to just letting it happen.

When I read the book I didn’t believe it would work, I mean really, turning the handle bars the opposite direction!! Unbelievable.

Anyway now using the counter steer method all I can say is the twisties here are now much more enjoyable and easier to do.

Before I used counter steering intentionally I never scraped my floorboards, now its happening as I can go around bends much more of an angle, and of course much more enjoyment also

After a month or maybe a little less, I still love this bike.
C50T rocks!!

I also put the magical 1600KM on it today and went full throttle for the first time. More than enough performance for me.

Well, thats all from me

Cheers

Perhaps a better description would be "consciously". You were always physically countersteering, but now that you consciously do it you're taking it to new levels.

Curves really are the cream of riding, ain't they?

You put 1600km on it in a day? That's quite an achievement. Most I've done is 610 miles.

Really, the most I've done in a day is only about 300!

I read it as today was the end of the break in period and he finally got to twist it open.

Ahh. Full throttle is part of break-in, per my manual.

You may also want to check into a Ride Like a Pro video or DVD.

Jerry "Motorman" Palladino and his wife Donna do police training for a living, and they have produced some incredible skill building DVDs over the past few years! Check them out at www.ridelikeapro.com

S2Design: Correct, End of my breakin period. 1600km in one day? no way LOL
Wont really be twisting it totally open though that often now anyway. Whole reason I got a cruiser. But it sure is nice to know I can

Rowdy: Curves sure are sweet, thats for sure. It still baffles me the counter steer thing. I practiced it all day yesterday so I know it does work, I still just find it hard to believe, weird, very very weird.

Moccasin:
Thanks will check the site out.

As another side note. I mentioned the counter steer theory to a couple of people at work today, and they all thought I was totally mad. Even 1 of 2 motorbike riders only actually believed me and the other is going to practice it today, LOL

Anyway, all good!
