Default Link on drilling the baffle? Does it work?

Want a little more noise. Have 4000 mi on my '05 C50, so no more warranty issues. Don't want to de-baffle completely, that would be too loud.

Thanks,

It's about a 16 meg file so it will take time to load, be patient. If you want some sound clips of what debaffled & de-mickeyed pipes sound like just go to the "Audio & Video" page on my website:

Thanks,
I have to holes drilled into each of my stock pipes and that was just what I was looking for. Its not much louder, but it's loud enough that I can hear the motor much better while riding and I don't go looking for that sixth gear that isn't there.

I drilled 3 7/16" holes in each baffle of my M50 and it sounds just right. No backfires, no sputtering, and it's just loud enough that it sounds good...

The instructional debaffling video was excellent. Really showed a novice like me exactly how to take out the baffles on the C-50, but I have a few questions.

First, it one were to do exactly as the guy in the video did regarding the removal of the baffles, are the exhaust pipes now considered "straight" pipes or is there another baffle further up in the exhaust?

Secondly, once the procedure is completed do you need to purchase a "power commander" to regulate fuel/air mixture, so as to eliminate backfiring and/or the bike running too "rich"?

Finally, would it be a feasible option to simply drill holes in the round plate just inside the end of the exhaust pipe, but leave the baffle in place? If this was accomplished would that necessitate installing a "power commander" in order to eliminate backfiring, etc.?

My buddy and I have a C-50 and C-50T and are considering making some changes to the exhaust in order to make our bikes a little louder, but don't want to get too extreme, nor void the warranty. Any insight anyone has on these issues would be appreciated. Thanks!

1st: There are a lot of people that just drill holes in the exhaust plates and are very happy with the sound.

2nd: There are 3 plates total in each exhaust pipe. 2 that hold the baffle in place (the 2nd plate is normally referred to as the "Mickey" plate) and 1 plate further up towards the exhaust port.

3rd: I was told by another member that with his C50 he just had to pull the cable on the battery and the fuel injection automatically adjusted itself for the new air flow.

Chappy, I removed my baffles and love the sound. If you follow the video you won't have any problems at all.
