| Hi Well since owning the C50 on 8th October and posting here about my intrepidation and fear of riding my first bike i have now come on in leaps and bounds. OK so i only have 400 miles on the clock and still running it in at between quarter and half throttle but Sunday i could not resist the challenge Went for my usual afternoon ride on sunday of about 20 or so miles, i was on my way back home comming down the Motorway and looking around me doing my normal steady 60 mph i could not beleive how quiet the trafic was. I thought "what the Heck" i slowly started to wind open the throttle, until before i new it i was there, at the magical 100 MPH. I must admit i did not find it a pleasant experience, i have a Suzuki screen and the wind factor buffetting my head was unreal, The bike felt very solid beneath me and stable, and there was more to go on the throttle i think, but not for me, I held this speed for about 1/4 to 1/2 mile then eased back as it was too uncomfortable to sustain. So there you have it, if there is a 100mph club, i have just joined it, it was definately a "one off" as conditions were perfect, and any how i am still supposed to be running the bike in. This truly is a great machine |

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | Well I see the views but no replies. So I'll be the first. BAD IDEA!!!!!!! First off,,,and most importantly,, if you are new to riding and do not feel comfortable,, then you shouldn't be riding outside of your comfort level,, especially at 100 MPH. Secondly at 400 miles your bike is not broken in properly,, if it starts using oil or something goes wrong then you may know why. This is probably something that you would not want to continue doing if you enjoy drawing breath on your own. If you are experienced and, to be politically correct, want to go that fast find a track to take it to. At a track you will find that there are no obstacles like stupid cagers, dogs, tree limbs, potholes, or loose gravel to contend with. If you are not expereinced and especially if you do not feel comfortable already,, the riding at 100 MPH will qualify you not for the 100 MPH club but for the Squid Society. Sorry,,not trying to be rude but don't want to hear about someone getting creamed in the UK for riding recklessly. Actually would like to see you post here more often about ideas for customizing, accesories, fun rides, and how much you enjoy actually cruising on your cruiser. 2 cents given.

| +1 what stp1971 said! Please be very careful and don't do that again. I'm sure you probably won't based on what you posted. What matters now is that you learned that going that fast is definitely outside your comfort level. Just take 'er easy, enjoy the view, and have a safe ride on your fantastic bike. That's 2 pence + change.

| So is it better to be a thant to be a ? Just kidding... but in all seriousness, it's probably everyone's thrill to find out the limitations of your bike... Heck, I'm guilty of going past that on my c50t... specially after the mods... But I guess, it's better just to take the word of those who have done it than to try it out yourself if it's past your comfort level.

| Can't say I blame you too much. Almost everybody has to try out and see what his/her bike can do. You're taking a bigger risk than most though, doing this with your short riding experience. Hope you got it of your system.

| When I lived in Germany, I had a Ninja 750. Once the bike was broken in, I spent about 8000 of the next 10,000 miles over the 100 mph mark. I had a top speed (clocked by German police) of 147 mph, with a passenger. I was young, in the military, and not a care in the world. Fast forward to today. I now have a sweet Red M50. I cruise at about 60 (on GPS) most of the time, and have almost no desire to go above that. I cna look back now and say I was stupid, but at the time, it was just plain fun. |

| I 2 can relate....I'm a speed junky..As I've grown older its become alittle easier to resist the thrill.I drag race and currently run 135 to 138mph in the 1/4 mile in my velle...My 1600 is modded and has run 130 according to the od.yes its silly and senseless to to do it on the street or highway for that matter, and I'm getting so much better about not doing it..But I must admit,,stop light to stop light its very hard not to full throttle.... |
