I'll be watching this topic as I'd still like to have an M95/Marauder 1600 myself. What do you think of yours? I've heard some griping about the "Kawasaki knock", common on Kawi V-twins and supposedly from the single pin crank, but I've heard that some don't do it. How does it handle? What kind of mileage, and is it true that it uses a cat. converter? So many questions, so many dreams, so little money. Story of my life.

I'd love to trade up to the M95 and let the wife have the M50, but there is this little detail called debt that is nipping at my heels all the time...

I love mine so far. It does have a bad knock that5 i suppose to go away when you add stage 1 modifiactions to it. On Thursday I'm putting on a Hypercharger, Hardkrome stripper pipes, power commander and having it dynotuned.
I also have an articale on this bike. I'll find the link and post it.

I have a marauder 1600..and love it!!!!had a 03 vTX1800 and yes its a tad faster but does not ride anywhere near as good as my 1600..the 1600 is lighter,,more manageable in every instance.....Of course I had to mod it abit to give it some more ump.......Thunder air kit, vance and hine ,,,cobra fi2000 ....Now its very close to a stock vtx....anyway...its just fun... Also ,,,yes the knocking noise at first really worried me,,but after continous full throttle blasts...nothing as ever come of it...The spark knock actually is gone with the fuel management mod...Its just a very lean mix...Now its totally gone,,but there is still that cold knock...I'm not worried any more though.....

Same thing that is holding me back. A local dealer has 3 leftover '04s for $7999. Boy would I take a beatin' on the depreciation of the M50. Better half says once she goes back to work it maybe could happen. I PMed drgibson about his but haven't heard anything from him, and haven't seen him post in a while. Hope he's OK.

I don't know - $8000 vs. $12,400 - that's a lot of accessories for the Marauder/M95. Not to mention tags, taxes, insurance.....

That M109R would be about too cool though.

good point....109R is a little high, but looks so much better IMO. The 1600 is not ugly, but every meanstreak and marauder 1600 look the same.

Here is a link to a road test on the Mean Streak.
http://www.cycleworld.com/index.cfm?...s&reviewid=12#

And If I were serious about getting an M95 $8000 is a killer deal. Intake, exshuast, fuel controll and a dynotune. You still spent alot less than what you would pay for an M109.

That can be changed with a J&P, Dennis Kirk, and other catalogs, not to mention internet buying! I like the look of the Suzuki version; the Mean Streak doesn't look near as good as the Marauder IMO. I wouldn't even mind looking the same for a little while, if I could just afford the bigger bike. Maybe in time.....

I traded my M50 in after 2 weeks on a M95. The dealer sold me the '05 for 8999 and gave me $650 less for my M50 than I paid him for it.

I LOVE the M95. Night and day difference over the M50. I thought the M50 was a great bike until I rode the M95. Way better seat (of course I think everyone knows that). Almost no vibration. I had had to get the ISO grips for the M50 it was so bad. The stock ones on the M95 work just fine.

The M95 handles just as well and has aot better power. It cruises at 80mph perfectly, with plent of passing power left. With the big 3 upgrades it will be even better as already mentioned.

On the 50 I felt like I was always "driving" the bike while cruising on the interstate. The 95 is smooth and stable at any speed up to 95mph (fast as I have been).

As far as the engine knock - mine had it on the showroom floor when i first cranked it up. The service manager assured me that it would go away shortly, and he was right. My bike has a slight knock now when cold but it does not bother me at all. Most people say it is even better with the upgrades.

I would definetly recommend trading up to the M95 if you can afford it. I think it was money well spent, and I will be keeping mine for years to come.

All in all I give it an A. With the power upgrades an A+!

I've heard a lot about that knock, and that has been a concern for me. Some say it is ultra-loud, some say it isn't bad like yours, and some say they don't have it at all. I've also heard to run 20W50 oil in it and that will help quiet it. I'm having the big Jones for more torque; I don't ride very fast at all, but I like a bike (and cars/trucks) to pull like a train while it's just loping along. I love the little M50, but it seems to run out of it's comfortable "pull" zone in the first 4 gears pretty quickly unless you are hogging on it. Then it does the "buzz" thing that I'm not too crazy about. I also think the 1600 would fit me better size-wise as I'm pretty tall, and probably look like a Shriner on a mini bike riding the 800. I might swing by that dealership today and just look, but I know that isn't a good idea. Wife won't let me just yet, but maybe in due time.

If you are thinking of getting one you better do it before they are all gone. They won't be available from Suzuki in 06.

Just got home from the dealership, and did it without riding one home. Of course they were quite prepared to rape me over the M50, but I could always put it up for sale in the local Bargain Post. Hopefully I could get a better chunk of my money back than what they offered. Man, those 'Rauders are nice - my wife even liked it. And the seat felt better too. I still look pretty big on it, but I think it's because both the 800 and 1600 are lower to the ground than many of the H/Ds I've seen, and it was lower, longer, and not near as wide as the 1800 VTX sitting near it. They still have 3 left, so maybe by the time (and if) I can sell mine they'll drop the price some more due to the '06s being out. I've sure got the bug now, and it's nice having my wife behind it too. But she says I have to sell one of my toys first.
