Default In need of advice

I know this is something that should go in the M50 treads but wanted an opinion from you all.

The paint guy is finishing up on my bike and as it turns out he painted just the fenders and tank with a marble blue with black flames. They said that paint lower on the bike would draw attention away from the flow of the flames.

My question is:

Should he have painted the lower (oil pan) area blue?

It'd look similar to this pic, but marble obviously.

It was a tough decision, but I would have to opt for keeping the oil pan area blacked out for contrast.

How about the pan painted solid blue - same shade as the majority of the marble?

By oil pan area, do you mean the side covers below the seat? Black them out. Or maybe chrome them. But don't paint them to match the tank.

yeah the side covers where an oil pan would be. The area right under the seat. I'm torn here because on one hand it would distract a bit from the overall paint and flames because the marble is intricate, BUT on the other hand is the tank and fenders enough to make it all look good and tie it in with the rest of the bike??

It all started as a M50 Black cycle

TT

I use to go with contrast, but since I got my S50 i really like the frame and tank being the same color. Go with the blue.

I think the pan under the seat should be the same color as the rear fender. Maybe that could be the point where it fades from the marble to the solid color of the rear fender,,kinda like the marbling is creeping backwards from front to rear.

I'm heading over there after work to check out the foam on the seat and already have my camera in the truck. I'll post some pics after I get home tonight.

Here's pics.

The bike is dusty but you can tell how the paint will look.

He'll finish molding the seat tomorrow and will get it upholstered right after. I should be able to pick it up Tuesday.

Thanks for the responses guys. As you can see the ZDI delima. I'm actually going to wait to see how it all looks together in the sun before I decide to paint the oil pan area or not.

I should pick it up and be able to ride again next weekend. Now lets just pray to mother nature not to snow next weekend. (I'll be on the road either way. )

Damn, that is nice and i'm not sure on the paint either but I usually go with the advice of the painters since painting more would get them more cash their opinion to keep it black may be a good one. You could always have someone photoshop your bike with the bottoms painted to give ya an idea.

That was a great idea for paint though- the flames look awesome!!!!

What kind of pipes do you have? Those arent the V&H are they?

Quick update. The painter was pulling the final M50 decals off the bike and, of all things, he ripped off some of the clear coat. He's now going to paint the oil pan area for free due to his mistake.

This also means another three days without the bike.
