| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | Are you replacing the original with it,, adding it to work in conjunction with the original,, trying to mount it in the originals location,,, mounting it separate in another location????? If wanting it to work in conjunction you will need to run leads to it from the original. If you are replacing the original then just wire it in. If it doesn't work when wired in you may not have enough juice to fire it off. I have read that some bikes electrical systems do not have enough juice to fire off a bigger horn. Not sure if yours is one of them or not. I have read that they ran a lead from the original horns wire to a relay which was used to send the signal to the horn which was wired directly from the battery or a junction that got direct current.

| Newbie | I want to take the old horn off and put the new one in it's place. My uncle changed his out, but just left the old one on and put the new one on the bottom of his bike. I didn't like that, I want it where the old one is, but I don't know if I how to take the radiator off.

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | There was something posted on here a while back about someone changing out the horn on a C50. Try using the search function. Get yourself a service manual,, a very valuable tool to have. I have one and it cost me $75.00 from the dealer. But I am going to do my 7500 mile service on the bike starting tonight. I bought all the supplies I needed and it looks like I am saving about $175.00 in labor alone. Buying that manual is money well spent. Oh yeah,,,WELCOME to the Forum!!!!

| The horn on the C50 is a PITA to get at. You could disconnect the wire and extend it to the new horn location. But, that is on a curcuit that has several other things on it and there is some chance you will blow the fuse when you hit the horn. Air horns have a compressor so they draw more juice. You would need a relay in order to have the horn button operate the air horn safely. Here is a doc on installing extra horns that may help (or change your mind about the air horn and go with the horns in the doc). http://webpages.charter.net/v0lusia...der%20horns.pdf |
