Default Recommendations on a motorcycle Alarm

Been looking at a lot of different motorcycle alarms and disc locks. Any one have good luck or bad luck with any particular brands?

got the gorilla alarm, easy install, 2 wire hookup...very compact, easy to hide behind the sidecovers and or saddlebags/ trunk...it has a shock sensor(for when someone tries to tamper with bike) a tilt sensor (scares anyone who tries to seat on your bike), and a current sensor(for when someone tries to tamper with the electrical/ignition)...NOW the best part is I ordered the upgrade kit for the lcd 2-way pager ...also easy to hookup and program, the 2 way gorilla cycle alarm pager works with a 1/2 mile range(depending on location) and warns you when any of the alarm sensors are activated...this is a very neat feature...it is also very useful when it starts raining and you forgot to cover your bike...this actually happened to me...i was inside in an office, and my lcd/pager warned me that the someone/something has activated the shock sensor...I ran immediately to where i parked my bike ...and it turned out it started pouring rain!...lol....just in time..i quickly took the cover out of the bag and covered my bike...before it got completely wet....of course...i also had an incident wherein someone sat on my bike...caught him in time too and it's scared the sh*t out of him when the alarm activated...LOL....there are similar alarms with a paging feature...i think made by scorpio. Anyway...I'm very happy with my gorilla pager alarm, and would reccomend it to anyone who values their ride. BTW, any disc lock is ok, but i prefer the kryptonite.

I have the Guard Dog Disc lock. Don't know if it is good or bad,, just have it. Might get a few others also so I can put locks on all three discs (two on the front and one in the rear). I figure if a would be thief saw three locks they might think twice. Worst case is they just steal all the accessories off of it.

Someone told me that they can stick a pole throught the front and the rear wheels and four men can carry a bike away. That kinda nulls out the possibility of the locks working,, well I'd like to see four men pick up the "LC" and do that. If they do then I hope they blow out their hemoroids and hernias to follow!!!

Oh yeah,, welcome to the forum!!!!

I just debadged mine so eveyone thinks it's a Harley now no one will mess with it.
If that begins to fail then I'll Teach Murphy the German Shepard to ride on the back. and carry a chain.

Default Is it really necessary?

Along the same lines, is an alarm really necessary? i just got my C50 a couple of weeks ago, and have been wondering about getting an alarm/disc lock/??

Is it really necessary?

I think it really just depends on the area you live in. In my town they don't have many problems with theft, but in Topeka I know bikes get stolen all the time. If you pull real hard you can snap that steering column lock and then they just push the bike away and load it up down the block.
