Default Carb Work In Minneapolis Metro Area

Hi Everyone!
New from Zimmerman, Minnesota (That is, new to biking and new to the forum), and just got my first ride, a "classic" 1983 Honda Nighthawk. I'm looking for a reputable mechanic nearby to adjust the carbs....It runs, but has some trouble getting started (full choke) and idles a bit rough.....Any help would be appreciated!!!

Tell us about its recent history (both use and storage), and anything else relevant to its condition. It may just need to be ridden with some Seafoam in the fuel. Stored bikes tend to develop deposits in the jets that lean the mixture, and you may get it to clean up just by using it. Otherwise, it's not that hard to disassemble and clean them up yourself if you like.

Thanks for the reply, Clint....I bought the bike from a co-worker. He hadn't had it on the road since 2002, and it would barely get out of idle...a friend of mine took apart the carbs and cleaned them up, but he didn't replace any of the parts....He got the bike running, but it doesn't idle well and backfires a bit when i back off the gas...It needs to be started and run for the first 5-10 minutes with full choke....I'm going to take your Seafoam advice, and if that doesn't fix it I really would like a professional to try adjusting the carbs.
