Default GS450T 1982, headlight flickers like there is a bad connection?

GS450T 1982, headlight flickers like there is a bad electrical connection?

From time to time it has starting issues like low battery power or the start button won't work. Any ideas from those more experienced with these bikes?

Thank you,

Kurt

Your first guess is usually close to the actual problem.

You probably DO have a bad connection somewhere associated with the battery or the charging system.

The flicker is caused by a failing charging system OR a battery that is going OPEN or a connection that is corroded or loose. The starting problems are another clue.

Check (disconnect and clean) the main battery cables at both ends.
Have the battery tested.
Have the charging system tested.
A real battery shop will usually do that for free.
Motorcycle shops are notorious for not knowing squat about batteries......including how to test them properly.
