My old girl is a gsx250e, im very much in the middle of rebuilding her and have got a lot to do to finish her up. Next on the agenda is to run a compression test this afternoon to see if that is where my headache with her starting up is originating from.

she's in pretty alright condition, aside from oxidising on the engine/wheels and rust on the outside of the tank (thats why i bought a spare tank to use while i get this one tidied up).

Neat! So, how difficult is it to get parts for these? What's the performance like?

I've never seen one; I don't think they were offered in the states (if I'm wrong someone please speak up!). What model year is it?

I dont think it was offered in the US as i cant find it on bikebandit or any other US based bike info site, it tends to be prevalent on european or asian sites. From my understanding it was the predecesor to the katana series of bikes, and its sister bike was the gs250 (same engine, different chassis)., it was made in 1982.

Hooligan..
thanks... ... it is a neat bike. Parts can be had from US and China sources we know. so far havent needed anything except a castle nut with with a weird thread pitch which we ultimately found locally.
The performance is what you would expect from a heavy old underpowered uncomfortable beast of a bike made for the Army...lol. It accelerates slowly and is geared low to go cross country on bad roads. It wont go over about 50 without making a milkshake out of your body..and if you hit a bump at any speed it tries to throw you off like a bucking bronco.
What more could you want in a bike?!

That is a beauty, Annie!
And I love the red jacket that goes with it!!

We've got one of these sitting in our garage. It does move but stalls quite often.
It's a 1965 Ducati Scrambler (1 cylinder, 350cc).

OMG, Kay. I started on a 66 250 Scrambler, back in 76. It was my dad's basket case that he put back together for the gas crunch of 73. That picture looks NICE. Ours was very ratty and leaky. Boy was it a vibrator. It would put my naughty bits asleep inside of 10 miles. Things used to fatique crack and fall off on a semi-regular basis. Good luck with yours and keep her running.

Really???
Yeah, it's a real challenge just to keep it running but she's still running.
The only other problem is that the left and right feet do opposite things from motorcycles in this era. So the right foot is the gear shift and the left is the brake. This utterly confuses me and I end up slamming on the foot brake when all I want to do is shift down.

Tim, is that a Harley???
Such a tiny engine!! (kinda cute, though)

Ahaha! Good for you!
If you kept it, it could've sold for a lot more now.
'51! That's more than half a century old!!

Thank you, Annie!
BUT...I am going to disagree with you.
'51 is old for motorcycles but young for people!!
The history of motorcycle is nothing compared to history of us humans.

Just found a pic of me on my first motorcycle - a brand new 1973 Honda CL100, purchased in Durham, NC. Two years later, I traded in on a 1975 Honda CL360, a "big bike," on which I used to tour throughout NC, both solo and two-up with my wife. Can you imagine touring on a similar size bike these days? Back then, at least in NC, there was no such thing as a motorcycle endorsement. All you needed was a regular driver's license. If you didn't already know how to ride, the salesperson taught you how in the dealer's parking lot. Helmets were the law, and, at the time, were extremely uncomfortable as you all surely remember. Sure glad they're making them more comfortable now. I'll get the pic online as soon as I can figure out how to do so.

Did you ever figure out how to get some pics up? I had a 1974 CL360, metallic green in color. I loved it!

I'm still working on it. My '75 CL360 was candy orange. I just happened to find the sales receipt. The bike was purchased brand new on 10/24/75 at the Meridian Motorcycle Company in Fayetteville, NC for a grand total of $908.00!

Now I'm going to have to take some pictures of my triple, although it won't look as good as the other one posted.

Primarily because I have 49,000 miles on it and don't spend a lot of time cleaning it.
