Live bands, vendors, girls, stunt shows, girls, sales on merch, girls, a few bikes, girls, rock-n-roll, girls, choppers, girls, the Buell Demo trailer. Only problem at the Buell demo trailer was.........they didn't bring the star of the show (1125R). There were quite a few disappointed people. No matter anyway. By all accounts, the product is being rushed, and it's not a good experience..........yet

Got my bike back Saturday. New bearings. TPS reset. Fit and finish items squared away. They even gave it a bath. Dropped my Shoei in the Service Drive .

Drove away....I gotta say....resetting the TPS gives you a whole new bike. It was running like Dukey when it was cold. I just wrote that off as a function of Harley. Just getting the idle back to 1050 rpms has a marked effect on how the bike runs slightly warm versus when the TPS is off, and running at 950 rpms.

Wow. I miss the purr of the Strom. I hope the Buell Idles better than the Ultra Classic I rode. Get to about 10 mph and it feels like the bike going to go dead with the erratic idle.

I guess I am just used to steady idling metric bikes. But the Buells do look good!!!

Runs great bro...

You know I'd have that crap sorted out!

The Ultra just needed some attention it sounds like.

Update:

A couple of services back. I complained to the dealership about excessive dive while braking.

The solution??? The eighteen year old tech that weighs all of ninety pounds soaking wet, decided to dial in his favorite settings that he read somewhere in a magazine, on my adjustable suspension.

I don't wanna say the bike ended up handling like complete crap. But all the Buell literature clearly points to you setting the SAG for your weight on the bike to further enjoy it. For some reason, when I got the bike back from the tech, I never went right back to fixing it.

So.....I've lost some weight lately. I pull out the manual to see if I need to make changes, and I remember that I got me some "custom" settings courtesy of the tech. I reset everything to zero, and started over.

All I can say is "WOW!!!!"

When I first adjusted the suspension last year, my skills were more toward the cruiser side of things. I thought it was an awesome suspension. Then the tech changed it. I apparently altered my riding style to compensate. Now that I'm completely used to the bike, I started noticing some shortcomings in the suspension.......Until I set it up again........Man o' man......

Now that Rickster's back:

The last time it was in for that excessive warm up time, burping and farting unless it was completely hot, and whatever else...

They replaced the plug wires.

Yeah......

Mileage is still crappy, and it burps just once now, if I shorten the warm up cycle.

What do you figure is crappy mileage?

On my V Strom I have one map that gets me 53 MPG, and 3 others that get me only 37 to 42, the strange thing is that other than mileage the bike runs the same.

Hard to say.

In your area do they put any "addatives" in your gas for the winter?

Does your car get worse mileage in the winter?

Up here in Mn we have 10% ethonal in our gas, and I always get 5 mpg better mileage when I'm traveling through a state that doesn't add ethonal.

After I had the dyno tune done on my Road King I started playing with the Power Commander, and after about 2000 miles of trial & error, I ended up with about a 10% leaner map than the computer had set up. The result was a 8 mpg gain in fuel mileage, and no felt difference in performance.

That's a good point. Yet I wouldn't know where to go to find the answer. Seein's how I don't speak Punjabi, I won't be getting any answers from the clerk where I buy the gas.

But where your point is good is I've noticed the drop in just the cold months. I was going to wait and see what happens when "Spring" rolls around down here.

(It's already started....The Daytona 500 is usually the herald of spring....up north y'all get the Red Robin....when I see NASCAR haulers, it means warmer weather! )

Wouldn't ya know....

Today..the light comes on @ 143. Which puts me back to roughly 40 mpg.

We'll see what this next tank brings.

Could be you were just riding it a bit harder on the last tank, I know I get worse mileage when I'm palying around & trying to figure out a problem. I tend to be on, and off the gas a lot when I'm trying to figure out if things are working right.

I would agree with you on the first and second tankful since I had it back, and I did try different things. By the third, I said eff it, I'll see what happens when the warmer weather comes back. I've been through quite a few tankfuls since I've got it back.

It certainly lends credence to your winter gas theory.

I gotta say though......that damn suspension is awesome. Being back in spec and tweaked to my liking, it rides like a razor.

It's like I've always said, if you want to beat your buddy to the next town, don't put your money in the motor, put it in the suspension.

Especially if you are riding an Ultra Classic!!!

Well I hope to get to "Ride" the Ulysses in Daytona.. hint hint. Naw I will go to dealer before I risk trashing Tim's bike.

I guess the time has come for me to tear apart the "LC" and do all the 17,000 mile crap. I also need new tires,,ugh.

But I am really itchin' to get back on the Strom and getting re-acquainted with my little Wee.

I sure do like the suspension on the Strom compared to riding the "LC". It is like the difference between a Porsche and a '74 Pinto.

Not a problem with me bro.

I always forget that you are taller than I think.
