Very nice, truly a bike that deserves to be called the jack of all trades.
1.With those bags on it, it's a great long distance touring bike.
2.With those tires, and ground clearance, it can take on any road, from dirt to interstate.
3.With that motor, and suspension, it can hang with most any sport bike in the twisties.
4. and let's not forget that great V Twin sound.
I think you have a winner there Tim.

If I could only own one bike, it would either be a Triumph Tiger, Buell Ulysses, or a Suzuki V Strom. I'm sure glad I don't live in a world where I have to chose only one.

Thanks man!

I do like that motorsickle.

As I told you in P.M.'s the other day. It is running strong as hell. I've altered the warm up routine a bit too, which helps a lot. But I think the ECM has truly learned the pipe.

It made Vroom Vroom sounds??? It sounded like a pretty good idle cam lope. Then it seems to smooth out on power delivery.

I'll have to do it again with me on the bike. Just the small ramp up in throttle moves the bike. Pay attention, you'll see the kickstand move back.

Cool!!! Saw it. Hmm,, good thing or bad thing. Might want to think about tack welding a wider plate on that thing for stability.

Mansfield OH at the end of the month. Supposedly there will be Buell demo rides.

I had ridden my bike up to my parents house, so my dad and I could drive up to Phoenix for a football game. When we got back, as I was gearing up, my dad was twisting the throttle on the bike as it idled. Damn thing vibrated down the sloped drive a couple inches every time he went WOT.

Just to udpdate my ongoing blog about this bike in this thread:

Dropped it off for a scheduled service yesterday.

They are going to go over it and do those things that they do at the dealership for a $200 oil change.

I can't say enough about the service team at the dealership. My sales experience may not have been top notch, but the service has been A1. Part of my reason for going ahead and buying the Buell, I'll restate, was because of comments Rickster made some time ago when he went on a long trip on his Strom. His travelling mates had Harleys. He commented favorably on how well Harley dealers went out of their way to accommodate in the service bay, especially when they were on the road vs. Metric dealers. Those words always stuck with me, and influenced my decision greatly.

So when I dropped the bike off, my Service Writer that always seems to want to have my bike in his team, hears the Uly pull up, sees the bike, gets a big smile on his face and comes out to great me. He gives a greeting from across the bay as he's walking over. He asks me what I want. I tell him, and then we go into what else is needed besides a basic service.

Right away, he asks if I would like to resolve the fitment issue on the right side bag, and if they could properly finish installing the left side handguard that was Mickey'd in due to time constraints last time. Wow! How about that. Eh?

I mention I'd like the rear bearing inspected. Buell rear bearings had/have some issues. Part of it is vendor quality. Part of it is there is some wonky way to tighten the rear axle and it has to be followed to a tee. Not some tech's "I know how to install a rear wheel way." The locking bolt has to be torqued to "X" spec, then undone, and re-torqued to "Y" spec. My exhaust has been replaced, and on a Buell that requires undoing/loosening the rear axle. It may not have been done properly. So I'm just being cautious. He gives me the quizzical face as to why I'd like the bearing inspected, and I told him a road I ride on is undergoing construction. Some mornings I follow the water truck they use to sprinkle on the surface to keep the dust down, and it has made the bike look grungy in short order to say the least. During my most recent inspection, I noticed in the dust by the axle that the bearing was weeping. The minute I mentioned that, he waved his hand, cut me off, and said they would be replacing that. No questions asked. Cool.

Next up. The Buell drank a quart of oil since the last service. I'm told this is normal, but he seemed concerned about the amount missing, and it's not on my garage floor. So they are going to look into that for me.

TPS will be reset. For some reason the idle settled from 1050 down to 950. Maybe not a big deal, but I'd rather have it done. TPS frequently goes out of whack on Buells for no reason. They can't even explain why it happens...just does.

I'll give a follow up report when I get the bike back.

Default what do I say...

I admire your patience and your positive out look but I don't think I can take so much.... Owning a Buell is a hard core experience...

I love the look but would not want the headaches...

But, I guess everything fance is unreliable, same way with ducaties,
very unique bikes with mandatory valve adjustments every 3K miles... Crazy!

I think I sick with the ordinary and less fancy stuff.... an SV will do for me!
