Default Filed a complaint with the National Highway Transportation Safety Board

For my c90T and it's problem stator unit. Anyone else who has had this issue with the Stator unit, particularly the CKP or signal generator, failing after a small number of miles, and especially when it fails in the middle of traffic, should file a complaint as well so that we can make Suzuki replace this part that could potentially cause serious injury or death. I was lucky that mine failed for the second time, (the first time was in traffic a year ago) the day after coming down some pretty steep mountain grades with a passenger on the back.

Here's the link:

IVOQ - File a Complaint

I love my c90 but after this unit failing twice, I'm going to have to seriously think about taking it on long trips anymore with the thought of this potentially failing anywhere or anytime.

Mire mods? The stator unit from the 05 and 06's are the same. It's really not the stator itself but the CKP (signal generator) unit that fails suddenly. It's all part of the stator assembly now and cannot be purchased seperately.

I filed a complaint because of all the problems I've heard about it (unfortunately after and not before I bought my bike).

I ordered the OEM unit as there is nothing else out there that can replace it.

Sorry, "wire mods".

From all my reading Zuki probably had a bad batch of stators, inferior wiring and connectors in the 05' and going into the 06' models. Actually the signal generator is on carbureted models. The injected model, which you have, uses the crankshaft position sensor.

Is your stator burnt in the 12:00 position?? Just curious. Of all the posts I have read this is the most commom stator post to burn and fail. It also seems that the culprit could also be connected to the R/R. Failing R/R may cause the stator to fail. I have been reading up on this a lot since I know mine will fail someday.

Just my .02 Good luck!!! I have some info on the "wire" mods if you are interested. Also, relocating the R/R to the exterior so it is cooled.

Haven't taken the cover off to remove the stator yet. I have checked all of the connections and found out when plugging into the dealer plug and having the ECM run it's diagnostics that it was the CKP sensor. (code C12). Some great info on the LC owners forum, including the supplemental c90 manual with all of the engine codes and how to jumper the dealer plug to get error codes. I'll let you know when I pull it which one it is.

I checked the resistance on the RR and it seemed ok. I'd definitely be interested in the wire modes and the relocation of the rr. Where exactly do you move it to?

Oh, and I did notice that the '06 part number was superceded by a newer one. Hopefully this will take care of it...

I have not done these mods yet. I know STP1971 has so he is our forum expert. I have just been collecting info over the past few months. RR wiring diagram with mod. More wire mods here.

I have other PDF files on the RR relocation but cannot upload them here too big. If you want pm me your email and I will send them. I get all of my infor from the suzuki 1500lc/c90 owners forum. Are you a member there?
