tallannie,

how did you keep the footrest parallel with the ground, did you tighten down the screw on the end of the rest? I just recieved mine last night and I want to make sure they aren't malfunctioning.

I had to tighten all the possible bolts on mine... they would 'flop' around and not stay flipped up unless I did that.... and if I understand you, loosen everything...dont worry. then the bolt at the back of the pedal itself will adjust what you are after and then you can retighten it....

The bolt that I'm assuming I need to tighten down has the arrow pointing at in the pic below. If this is correct, there is no need for response.

the bolt you indicate will definitely allow the peg to rotate as you wish.

however, it looks like the bolt on the exact other side from where you are indicating...the one that tightens the clamp...should allow the whole pivoting assembly to turn freely before you finally tighten the clamp.... and adjusting it from there would allow the peg to lay flatter against the bar when it is pivoted up...?

but heck, you cannot break these things.... have at it !

I have a C90Se with OEM engine bars. They slope in from top to bottom. Bought Kuryakyn Offset Duallys (similar to Annie's longhorns) and after installation they could not be set to sit level because of the sloping bars. See the first photo attached.

I then ordered the Peg adapter for them which allows you to adjust the angle at which they sit. See Product Page

This allows the peg to be adjusted to sit level (second photo shows one side up, one down). The last pic is of the peg adapter showing where there is an adjustment via hex screw for the angle.

Do the MC Enterprises Highway bars/pegs protect the engine is the bike is accidentally dropped? I like the design, and the price is good ($95), but just want to make sure they function as engine guards as well.
Can anyone let me know?
Thanks.

If you want true engine protection then you need to go with actual engine guards. However any structural metal piece (i.e. MCE hwy pegs) that sticks out farther than your engine will act as an engine guard to a point. I think if you were to lay your bike down or drop it in a parking lot it would protect your engine. If you lost control of your bike going faster it wouldn't be as effective as actual crash bars.
