| ok, I just took a friends shadow spirit for a spin and he had installed forward controls... what a difference. Anyone out there... Dr. Bob... put forwards on? or is there a way to move the existing housing forward and put on extensions for the levers? My dad has also recommended forwards, he rides a C90. Dad is also an engineer in a metal fabricating plant so access to machines and stuff is no problem, he has made tonnes of his own accessories. Oh yeah, friend loved the S50! |

| Jardine used to have a set for the VS1400 that used their own housing and removed the stock peg plate....I'll asume they have/had one for the 800 as well. Couple local guys I know have forwards on their bike (one that aforementioned 1400/Jardine) The other has Mapams on his VS800. |

| The MAPAM forwards are the least expensive option. They look OK, and the quality is not bad. Jardine and others make better quality ones, but they cost easily twice as much. Don't buy the MAPAMs from EBAY. that price is certainly no deal. If you do a google search for "MAPAM forward control VS800" you can easily find them for $50-65 less that the EBAY guy, and deal with a real company also, not some guy ordering them and having them drop shipped to you after marking them up. Moving the entire assembly forward is an option. You can make a plate to move the cross member forward, but you are limited as to how far you can more it, as it looks pretty bad to have the crossmember stick out in front of the frame. But if you only need a few inches (rather than the 6 or 8 forwards move your feet), that is the cheap way to do it. Just make a plate out of 1/2 inch steel, with holes to attach it to the stock crossmember location, and then holes to attach the cross member to it further forward. Recess the bolts like the factory does to protect the heads. I think 'store bought' forewards look better, but the homemade way is certainly cheaper if you have access to the tools and material.
