Timing Retard Eliminator. The 109's retard the timing in gears 1-3 and then its normal in 4 and 5. This little gadget makes it think that it is in 4th gear all the time and gives full power in all gears.

Thanks for the explanation. Does this cause any problems with jerky riding in gears 1-3? All that power in first gear can be quite a jolt on the rider. Also, how does it affect the transmission?

No salt here yet
Very little sand, mostly on the shoulders.

Rode all winter last year, just more selective about where and how long.

Every time I do work on the damned bike I realize that I need smaller hands and fingers!

This bike is amazing with the TRE! I don't need any more performance mods that is for sure.

I would like to make it a little louder though. Anyone drilled the stock pipes? How much louder would you say it is? I don't want to de-baffle because I know it is teeth shattering loud if you do.

Check M109riders.com
There is a video including sound clips of someone drilling 8 - 3/8" holes in each pipe.
Since they have the same exhaust, same effect.
The more miles I put on mine, the more I like the sound. It's not obnoxious loud, but not whisper quiet either.

I know when I bought the 109 the sales guy was telling me that V&H has some exhaust system that boosts the HP to equalize having 2000cc. With the TRE, I'm more than happy with the boost I've got!

Hell, a cruiser that can compete with my buddy's Ninja is alright by me!

Nice to see you're still ridin' Loki, I was done 4 weeks ago.

My brother put 4 1" holes on each baffle on his 9er, definitely louder but not too loud.

So what kind of things are you seeing that have changed? I've noticed my engine "knocking" for lack of a better term, and some hesitation on accel..Did you have any of those symptoms?

Hey Guys, That TRE is sounding pretty good. How does it effect the idle? How about start-up, both cold and hot?
Thanks in advance

I haven't noticed any changes with the idle or any other effects other than full power in all five gears
I have put a few thousand miles on with mine.

Default Yes Loki, I'm referring to the TRE

Yes Loki, I'm referring to the TRE. I would have to think there would be some warranty issues as well.

Naw, takes a couple minutes to unplug and they would never know it was there.
