is there a fix for this problem? it already has over 2000 miles.
the thing is a beast! plenty of power and loves to cruise at 80mph.
Lon,

You forgot something VERY important

You left the warning stickers on!!!!

Yeah, I've been emailing back and forth with him since I got the 109. Good insight and he's pretty handy in making mods for various Suzuki cruisers.

Gary's very knowledgeable.

Yes, I am kinda waiting to see what he comes up with for mods!
I haven't gotten a bully yet but I am seriously considering it.

Hey Guys, I am sure liking this 109RT! I have a stupid (???????) Question, The C109r and the C109RT are the same chassis correct? They sure appear to be. I am looking for passenger foot boards and haven't found any yet. I've found them for the 109R but not the RT... Thanks, Skip D

Cobra Passenger Floorboards - Suzuki C109R for Suzuki Boulevard C109R

Cobra Passenger Floorboards, Swept - Suzuki C109R for Suzuki Boulevard C109R

The R and RT are the exact same bike.
R is single color usually without bags, windshield, etc
RT is two tone and fully dressed.

Most engine accessories are also interchangeable between the C109 and M109 as well, since they have the exact same engine.

Hey Guys,
When going through the gears on my C109,,,in 4th and 5th gears there is a slight knocking noise. Is this predetonation? This when I shift into 4th at about 45ish mph... If I wind it up a little higher it doesn't do it near as bad. Can Suzuki retard the timing a little? Or maybe richen the mixture a little bit....
Lastly, does anyone else experience this?
Other than this problem, I love the C109.... Thanks in advance, Skip D

Try shifting at higher revs.

The 109 doesn't like lower revs and I typically can't shift into 5th until 65-75mph.

It's one of the few whines the supposed experts in the magazines say while they also brag about how much top end power it has.
DUH! can't have loads of top end power and shift gears at 2000rpm!

That is the timing being advanced in those to gears. If you notice there is also more power in 4th and 5th. It could be some detonation also. It is actually detuned by retarding the timeing in 1st thru 3rd.
Detonation is going to be notice more when lugging at low rpm's.
Higher octane may help.
I put in the JSD-3M to run the advanced timing in all gears. With 91-92 octane I have no detonation.

Here is an excellent explanation on detonation

Thanks Guys. I will continue to wind it up higher... Also grandpatractor, thanks for the explanation on the factory de-tuning.. That explains why it doesn't show up untill 4th gear. It seems that with so much power the 109 is happy lugging, except for the extra noise which bugs the _____ out of me, because I know the extra noise isn't supposed to be there. I now have about 360 miles on it and LLLOOOVVVVEEEE IT!!!!!! Later Skip D

Hey Guys, in regards to the knocking noise I have, I failed to include that I am running 93 octane. When I am cruising along (on the Navy base where I work) at 45 mph in 4th gear, it really bugs me, that I can't accelerate without knocking. I wind it up when accelerating, but it's difficult to run around at 45 in 3rd gear....I am going to talk to the dealer and see if they can retard the advance, or increase the rpm that it comes in at.....Do you think a FI controller would help???? Thanks in advance. Skip D

Did you use that to get rid of the pinging sound?
I was thinking of ordering the PCIII because once v&h releases the pipes for the c109r I will have to get them.
