Default Friction Zone

First, my profile says I have am M50 but I don't really have one yet...that was wishful thinking at the time. I've been debating with myself over the M50and the Honda Shadow Aero. The debate is over and I expect to have a new M50 by this time next week.
I have just one more question before I sign the deal.
Last year I had a Yamaha V Star 650 custom. I sold it at the end of the year. That bike had NO friction zone...maybe 1/4" tops. There was nothing I could do to change it. It made slow speed maneuvers really difficult. Right hand turns from a dead stop were a real test. I don't want to have that again. Sooo, my question; how big is the friction zone on the M50, and how does it handle in slow speed turns? Thanks for your input.
