|  Saddlebag snap repair
Anyone ever done this? I bought a saddlebag snap repair kit from the dealer to repair the snap on my c90t saddlebag. Goofy thing is that it comes with the snaps and the rivets, and a rod and base. You stick the rivet through the hole, put the snap part on it, then position the rod in the rivet and pound it with a hammer to mushroom the rivet. Only trouble is, the bag is lined with hard plastic riveted to the outside, so you can't get to the back on the snap to put the base on it. I was able to get the old one out by stretching the leather a little bit, got the new one position but there's nothing solid to allow for it to be hammered, You can't put the piece of base metal on it because of the plastic. My next thought is to put the rid in a cordless drill and maybe try mushrooming the rivet that way. Anyone ever done this before? Any other suggestions? |
